    1. [FRAZIER] FRAZIER Project
    2. I publish a family newsletter for the Nicholas Gibbs Historical Society (NGHS) based near Knoxville, Tennessee. This year, we are featuring stories about families that married Nicholas Gibbs' children; one of those families happens to be the FRAZIER family. We have about 150 subscribers, but not one descendant from the family of Beriah and Barbara (GIBBS) FRAZIER. Specifically, I am looking for help from this list in pulling together about a seven page essay on Beriah, his ancestors and descendants (I do know quite a bit about his descendants, but not that much about the ancestors). Here are a few headlines about what I know about Beriah and his parents: Beriah was born in 1776 in Guilford County, NC and died (probably in TN) in 1858; buried at the DeVault Cemetery in Rhea County (near Chattanooga), Tennessee. He was a medical doctor by profession. His children were politicians, doctors, Civil War soldiers, Indian fighters - really quite an interesting family! Beriah had 11 children; 4 sons and 7 daughters. My records show that Beriah is a son of Samuel and Rebecca (JULIAN) FRAZIER who married in 1771. Beriah had 4 brothers (Abner, Julian, Thomas and Samuel, Jr) and one sister (Barbara). The father, Samuel, was Quaker (New Hope Meeting) up until the Revolutionary War. He was a private serving in the Rev War, listed as participating in the Battle of Kings Mountain. After the War, Samuel moved his family to Eastern NC; the location later became Greene County, TN. In addition, Samuel was elected as a state legislature several times; his first term found him serving on the constitution committee which actually drafted the TN state constitution. One of his grandsons, James Beriah FRAZIER, served as governor of the State of Tennessee. Samuel was one of 11 children born to George Thomas and Mary (PUGH) FRAZIER, married in 1748. George Thomas (b. 1725 / d. before 1790). I am not sure whether George Thomas or Samuel was the FRAZIER immigrant. France has been identified by some sources as this FRAZIER family's country of origin. Any help on this project would be very much appreciated! By the way, Beriah is my ggg uncle while Barbara is my (blood) ggg aunt. - Tom Wilson Boca Raton, Florida
