    3. Art, I know it has been a couple of weeks since you posted this message, but I am interested in knowing whether This Sarah Frazier and William Austin Evans have any connection to the Frazier and Evans families in Franklin Co., MO? Also, were your Fraziers ever in South Carolina? My 4-g-grandmother was Susannah Frazier. She married Irby Bressie (also spelled Bracey and other ways) in Granville Co., South Carolina in 1802. I have next to no information on her and the Frazier family. So I am really just grabbing at straws here. I do know that there were/are some Fraziers in Franklin Co., Missouri. The Evans surname is also in my family tree, but they are connected to the Blanton family which is my direct line. Ann PS The my Bressie family was in Dent Co., Missouri and some of the descendants were in St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve Co., Missouri. -----Original Message----- From: Art [mailto:ags111930@cox.net] Sent: Friday, December 12, 2003 10:36 PM To: FRAZIER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [FRAZIER] Sarah Ann FRAZIER I am seeking information on Sarah (Sally) Ann FRAZIER/FRASHER (& other spellings). 1. [FRAZIER] Joseph Frazier, from PA, in Iowa in 1850 census
    2. Hello all, I found my GGGrandfather, Joseph Frazier with his family, in the 1850 census living in Iowa. They were in District 4, Scott County, IA at that time. They returned to Rock Island County, IL, shortly afterward. The are: Joseph Frazier, age 41, born PA, a farmer Mary (Power) Frazier, 38, born PA Delilah S., 16, PA Alexander H., 14, OH William P., 13, OH Sarah E., 11, OH Julia A., 8, OH James L., 6, OH Elizabeth A., 5, OH George T., 3, IA (My GGrandfather) Next door to them in the census is another family of Fraziers, who I suspect must be a brother to Joseph. John Frazier, 46, PA, Farmer Martha Frazier, 43, PA John M., 16, OH, Laborer William H., 14, OH Hiram E., 12, PA (?) David A., 9, OH James L., 4 OH >From various places on the net I have found reference to Joseph and Mary Powers being married on 8 Feb 1833 in Washington Co, PA. The children of Joseph and Mary (except for Delilah and my GGrandfather George T.) were apparently born in Deerfield Township, Morgan Co., OH. Delilah S., married Oscar Dayton, William P., Married Ella R. Brown and Sarah E., married Anthony Wayne Rader. My George T., married Anna M. Bach, settled in Kansas (Beloit and Udall). Interestingly, Joseph, returning to Rock Island Co., IL, joined the Union Army at the age of 52 (in 1862) and was killed or died 2 months later on 29 Dec 1862 at Bowling Green, KY. I guess, after all that info, I am looking for anyone of the family, anyone who can tell me the father and mother of Joseph (and if in fact John is his brother) or any other info on this interesting Frazier family. Regards, Jerry Carbiener Minden, NV

    2. Mack Donald Frazier had a half-sister, Sarah, born in KY. In the 1850 census of Henderson Co., KY she was 7 years old but in the 1880 census of Ozark Co., MO her age was given as 28, which would make her birth year ca 1852. This Sarah was the daughter of Alexander Frazier and Margaret (surname unknown). I don't know who this Sarah married but there were a number of people named Evans in Ozark Co. 2. I'm looking for any information on JACOB FRAZIER. About all I know regarding Jacob is that he married to NANCY WINE JOHNSON/JOHNSTON in Braxton County, WV on December 13, 1864. It appears Jacob died by 1870 since Nancy appears as a widow in the 1870 Lewis County, WV Census with her three children by her first marriage. I don't believe there were any children born to the marriage of Jacob Frazier and Nancy. I have not been able to find out where Jacob died or where he is buried. Talk about a brick wall!!!! Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Claudia Pell-Salvatore

    3. Joyce, the following website has many Frazier's from Washington Co., PA. I didn't see your Elizabeth there but you might find a connection amongst the list. I have a William Frazier, b 1790, poss Scotland, D 1862 Belmont Co. OH. He brought his bride, Nancy Giffin from Belmont Co to West Alexander, Washington Co. PA to be married. It was not unusual to go to West Alexander to be married, or PA for that matter, as the marriage law was more lenient. My gggrandfather was not on this list and I can't find a connection to him, but I think he is of the same group. http://www.geocities.com/~topolyp/frazier.html Good Luck, Lois Joyce Franke wrote: >Hi Constance, if you happen on Elizabeth Frazier, b 1759 (don't know where), >m 1) Samuel Strong, m 2) Nicholas Pumphrey, I would sure like to know! 1. [FRAZIER] John Frazier of Augusta Co., VA
    2. Dear Listers: Does any have anything new about John Frazier, Sr. of Augusta Co., VA? I believe he died sometime before 15 Nov 1758. I have that information from L. Effingham De Forest's book "Jelke and Frazier Families." John and his wife Isabella Moody came to the Shenandoah Valley with Robert Moody, her brother, and lived on Long Meadow Run about a quarter of a mile from Robert. Both of these men were appointed August 1748 to oversee the road from Tinkling Springs to Stuart and Christian's Road. "John was a constable 8 May 1749, but died sometime soon after, leaving a widow and six small children." Augusta County Will Book #2, page 279 mentions Isabella Frasure, widow, 15 Nov 1758 as part of the settlement of the estate of John Craig. Does anyone have more to add to these brief statements? I have the book put out by the Tinkling Springs church and I have written to the Augusta County Historical Society (in mid 90's) but no one had much to offer beyond what I already had. What about the Moodys in PA? Anyone have a clue about them?? Give me a hollar! Constance

    1. Re: [FRAZIER] Re: Nancy FRASER b. ca 1785 PA
    2. Merna: I have Hoff cousins from eastern Ohio, but it's quite plausible that your Nancy could be some distant (or not so distant) relation. Mason County, WV is right across the river there and I know that they traveled back and forth quite readily. As for the PA connection: My first Frazier ancestor (John d. 1755 Augusta Co., VA) that I know anything about may have been born in PA. I know that he met his wife, Isabelle Moody there and that her parents Robert and Isabelle Moody had property there. It's the whole Scots-Irish thing...they [Scots] were the late comers, the Germans, Quakers, etc. had already established political and religious ties to the area and the Scots, especially those who had spent one or two generations in Ulster Ireland, had picked up some fiery religious beliefs and didn't like that PA wasn't providing them with a nice little niche to begin an American journey. The Shenandoah Valley was there, and it needed people. It was the frontier, so the Governor made the land available. My John Frazier and Isabelle settled in Augusta County, VA and lived there for 2 generations, serving as constable, surveyors, etc. It is just after the revolution that Samuel Frazier, his wife Ann (Gay?) and their family bought land in WV (Virginia) and moved over the mountains to start afresh. So, could there be other Fraziers who didn't move from PA when John and Isabelle heard the call....Damn Straight. So, I'm guessing that this just stirs the pot, right!!!! I love genealogy, just when I think I know something....well, I just don't know it, do I?? Let me know what you think. Constance

    3. Hi Listers, I have a Nancy FRASER / FRASIER / FRAZIER / FRAZER who was b. ca 1785 and might tie into Constance's WV line. My Nancy married William MARCHBANK ca 1811 and they named one of their sons John "F" (maybe for Fraser?) MARCHBANK. By 1820 they were in Jefferson Co, OH in eastern Ohio near the border of West Virginia. Other children (b. 1813-1827) were named Jane, Eleanor, William, Eliza M., Hannah and Nancy. Hope this info might tie into someone's line out there . . . . I'd love to find a cousin! Merna McClenathen Goleta, California

    1. [FRAZIER] Frazier inquiry
    2. Dear Frazier Listers:      I'm new to the list today and wanted to see if anyone out there is working on my line of Fraziers. I look forward to reading the new posts from you all, since you never know who is going to provide the missing link or information needed to break through that nasty brick wall!      My Fraziers are from West Virginia (Putnam, Kanawha and Mason Counties) after the Revolutionary years. They purchased land grant acres and moved to Fraziers Bottom, WV and quickly established themselves in the area. My line is as follows from there forward:      Samuel Frazier,                      m.         Ann Gay b. Augusta Co.                                    b. Augusta Co. d. ca 1815? Fraziers Bottom               d. ca 1830 in Fraziers Bottom.                |                         |                    | Samuel Frazier    William Frazier     Allen Frazier  m. Hannah McCallister                                                             b. 1801 Mason Co. d. Nov 1861 (suicide) Putnam Co.                                                             |                                                        Allen Thomas Frazier  m. Harriet Holder                                                        b. 1829 Mason Co.                                                        d.  after 1870 Kansas?                                                   I'm particularly interested in anyone who knows more about Allen Thomas Frazier. When Harriet died in Jan 1867, he remarried to Virginia Pautha Everett and had 3 more children. Ms. Everett also has ties to the Mason Co., WV area. But the question is this:  It's been established by the 1880 Iowa census that Allen Thomas had died before 1880 as Virginia is shown in Benton Twnshp, Wayne Co. Iowa where the family was living in the 1870 Iowa census. Benton Township is where the children of both marriages, except the youngest, were born. She is called Jennie Johnston in 1880 and her two youngest children are living with her in 1880. The grandchildren of the Guy Frasier, (born in Kansas) the youngest son of Jennie and Allen Thomas, have said that Allen Thomas died in 1883 of asythma, but that doesn't work if Jennie was called Jennie Johnston, listed as head of household in 1880. My Dad's cousin has said that Allen Thomas died on the way to Kansas...It seems logical that Jennie may have remarried in Kansas when Allen Thomas died. After all, she was a young mother with 4 children from her husband's 1st marriage and 3 young children of her own. My dad always said that the older children were "farmed out" to brothers and sisters of Allen Thomas back in WV and he made it sound negative, but I think it was simple expedience. Does anyone know anything regarding Allen Thomas' date or place of death or Jennie's marriage to John Doe Johnston? Does anyone share this line of descent? After Allen Thomas the line is: David Allen. b. 1857 Wayne Co. Iowa d. Jan 1935 Red House, Putnam Co., WV married 1885 Lula Sarah Hoff. their 2nd son: David Arthur Frazier b. 17 May 1891 Red House, WV d. 10 May 1967 Poca, Putnam Co. WV married Dulcie Altha Spence b. 1897 Confidence, Putnam Co., WV d. 1964 Frazier Family Farm, Poca, Putnam Co., WV. Their 2nd son: James Arthur Frazier b. 5 Nov 1920 Red House, WV d. 23 Jun 1991 Huntington, Wayne Co., WV married Marilyn Jean Moore (Living) their 5th child: Constance Leigh Frazier (living) c'est moi! Sorry for the long post, but hey, maybe it will help someone out there who is looking for something I have??? Look forward to hearing from you all, Constance Frazier
