Hello list, In researching my family name I have come across three different lines of Francoeurs. The first (in no particular order) is the LECLERC dit Francoeur family. I made no attempt to research this name as it is not related to my line and is well documented in other quarters. The second line is the CHARLAND dit Francoeur family. The closest that my family came to the Charland dit Francoeur family was very far back. In the year of 1710 Joseph Charland dit Francoeur married Marie Angelique Harbour who was the sister of Marie Harbour the wife of Innocent Laroche. Innocent was my matriarchal 13th or so great grandfather. My line is the AUMAND or HOMAND dit Francoeur family. This name was being used by Jean Homand back in 1760. He was a French Regular who fought in Canada during the French and Indian war. This name carried forward until about the 1850's when the different sons of Pierre Homand dit Francoeur started there own families and broke tradition by moving away from the family farm in Montreal. By 1870 most had moved to different regions carrying with them different versions of the family name. They were 1) Aumand, 2) Homand, 3) Francoeur. As difficult as it was to trace my family line with the varying names, it is sheer simplicity when compared to the job of trying to find the Homand dit Francoeurs who stayed with only the Francoeur name as their surname. Most do not remember where they came from. The rest assign their identity to one of the other two Francoeur lines. Specifically I only suspect one or two heads of family back in 1870 that may have used the Francoeur surname. That would have been Joseph and Maxime. But another half a dozen may have done the same thing. I am only asking the list to be aware of my line. And if you come across this name, please do not brush it aside as a mistake. Please contact me with any suspicions. Thank You. Dennis E. Homant ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis E.
