    1. [FRALEY-L] Trades as a research tool

    3. It seems to me that trades; i.e. carpentry and smithing, etc., were often passed from father to son (and still are) and could be used as a research tool, of sorts. Frederick Fraley, husband of Chloe, had a carpenter shop; referred to in a 1902 book,"Historic Germantown", in that suburb of Philadelphia. It was burned by the British for his having built gun carriages for the continental army. I believe that Frederick married his first wife there, she being referred to in his will, but I've not found her there, as her name is unknown. Frederick is alleged to have built Moore's Fort as well as a church in Russell Co., Va., and his descendants in eastern Ky. built schools and churches. His descendants today in Elliott Co. are carpenters who have learned from their elders! Has any one else found this tendency to pass on skills to their children to continue through the generations?
