Hi, Just a quick note. Johannes is John in German. James is Jacobus, or a variant of it. Kevin Fraley At 07:25 AM 8/12/99 -0400, you wrote: >I think they might be a clue in the Brenton/Brinton idea. I think they might be a clue in the Brenton/Brinton idea. It had to start somewhere. There usually is some reason for those legends. I have not been able to find anything. I have found quite a bit of info on Henry his line. See no connection to our Frederick. I would like for everyone to share their ideas on Chloe's ancestry. Some believe she was a Bryan related to Daniel's wife Rebecca. I tried that route and found nothing connecting. Some say a Donally. No luck there either. I have been researching all the Chloe's I run across and a couple of maybes, but they are far fetched. I think if we look at the spuoses of Fred's children we may have some clues as to where they came from. I have a tendancy to think Maryland. I have worked on Mary Fraley and John Jones for a long time. I finally found Mary Jones living with children in Alabama and she listed her birth place as Maryland. But I am not sure she is the Mary Jones I need. Trail ran cold. Do we know what the B stands for in Frederick's son James B Fraley. According to naming patterns, that could be the initial of Chloe's maiden name. ALso if James was the first son, possibly named after Frederick's father, then his father might have be Johannes, Johanne, etc. These are German versions of James. There was a traveling minister in the area about the right time, whose last name was Brittain. I thought Chloe might have belonged to him. Just a thought. I could never find any link. Please share your thoughts. One of us may be on the right track. Penny
I'm so glad my message got through. I didn't receive it & I suspect it's because my server was bouncing my rootsweb list messages today. I got unsubscribed from one list because of this, but it seems like all is well on this list at the moment. But ... if anyone posted any messages on this subject today ... could you resend them to me? Thanks a bunch. Somewhere she found out differently and changed the names on the charts. We did prove Frederick Fraley as a Revolutionary Soldier and did join DAR. I will have to contact her and see what she found. Yes, I also have a Brinton as the son of Issac Oliver (my line) and also his son James Elihu had a Brinton. I have never seen a list of brothers and sisters for Frederick Fraley so maybe he was a brother and someone just got Frederick and Brinton mixed up. It would be interesting to find out. Do you have a copy of Frederick's will? I would like to see and have a copy of that. Many of the documents we used to prove Frederick was sent to the DAR by my aunt so I never saw them. I proved my relationship to her so I only filed a short form. I think this is great that so many us are related to Frederick. This is the first list I'm on that I have found so many "cousins". Hi Gang: Just signed on to this list. Frederick & Chloe were my g.g.g.g.g.grandparents through their son Isaac Oliver. I have a question: just how did the confusion start with Frederick & Britton (or Brinton, as I've seen it)? Anyone who's been researching Frederick & kin for any amount of time will know what I'm talking about. I have a TON of trees over here, sent to me over the years, that list Brinton Fraley as married to Chloe. Most of them list Henry Fraley & Susannah Margaretha Rice as Brinton's parents, & Frederick Fraley & Mary Fraley as Chloe's parents. As soon as you see Frederick's will, you know that Chloe was Frederick's wife, not his mother, & that that whole passal of kids were Frederick's, not Brinton's. Just curious. And, subsequently ... how DOES Brinton (who I have listed as being born in 1770) fit into the Frederick & Chloe line? DOES he fit in? I don't think Frederick had a Brinton, but Isaac Oliver did & so did James Elihu, one of Isaac Oliver's sons. Susan
Hi Fraley cousins, I am also a descendent of Frederick and Chloe. My Fraley line is: Frederick -> Isaac Oliver -> James Elihu -> Adam Collard -> Cecil David -> Odella Madeline Fraley Evans (my mother) -> Brenda Evans Irby (me). I have not done a lot of research, but I enjoy reading about my family's history. Most of the information I have comes from research done by others and from stories my mother and her sisters have told me. My mother was born in Elliott County, Ky in the house that her grandfather Adam Collard Fraley built, on the same land that Isaac Oliver and Catherine Shoemaker Fraley settled when they first went to Kentucky. Through this list I have found the email address of my cousin Marjorie in Gallipolis, Ohio. Her grandmother and my mother were sisters and her dad was my first cousin. Now we have a way to keep in touch - through email. Hopefully I will meet some more Fraley cousins through this list. Brenda Evans Irby Huntington, WV
Hi, Many of you may have seen my post in the Fraley genforum, if not Hi! My ggrandmother was Cora Lee Fraley (Neisler) who was from Salisbury, NC in Rowan County. All I know about her is she married John Henry Neisler, they had 6 children: Gracie, Harry, Arthur Lee, Carl Thomas (my grandfather b 5/7/00 d1946 in Danville, VA), Cecil Jennings and Lucille (Mize)(Hawkins). We believe she died around 1935-37. She also had at least 2 brothers named John and Thomas Fraley. Hopefully I'm related to someone as I'm an only child and you can never have too much family :) Thank you, Betty
Hello Cousins, I just wanted to say hello to the list. I am related, as are Marjorie and Penny, through Frederick and Chloe FRALEY/FROELICH. My family line continues with their son Jesse who married Mary "Polly" ENGLISH/INGLISH. I know that Penny and I have the same information since she and my mom, Jane Zornes-Burrows, have corresponded in the past. When I have new information to share, or can answer anyone's questions, I will most certainly contribute to our list. -Valerie Burrows W: vburrows@fcb.com H: Hollyce@aol.com

I have Frederick Fraley born about 1749 died 1796 in Russell Co.Virginia married to Chole Fraley. I have listed there children as: Henry, James, Daniel, Issac Oliver(my line). Frederick Jr., Ranbuen, Benjamin, William, Sarah, Nancy, Jesse, Martin, John, Caleb, Thomas. I also have that there were 16 children so I am missing one. I am looking for more information on the parents of Frederick and Chole Fraley. Chole maiden name was also Fraley. Any information would be appreciated. Marjorie Wood woodchuck@eurekanet.com
