    3. Hi everyone I have returned from a very successful trip to England which included much family history. Now that I am back I need to catch up with the journal. This edition will have some emphasis on Remembrance of those who experienced war. If you have any story you wish to tell please send before the end of September. I noticed that some people purchased books during the seminar so it would be nice to hear about what you read.  Of course any stories about your family history and items of history are always much appreciated. Any photos you have can be used as well. Looking forward to your contributions.  Regards Kath Sent from Samsung tablet

    3. Kath............not sure if this would be an item for the Journal. ELIZA MAYERS, 1851 Census....... I was checking family names on familysearch.org - again! You know how it is a necessity to keep checking if you need more information. Well I put in my GG Grandmother's name, Eliza Mayers, and to my surprise up came an item showing her in the 1851 Census. Now this is the first time in over 15 years of research that her name has come up on familysearch.org. I shared this my sister and thought I must look up the 1851 Census. I went to FreeCen but 1851 for the area I wanted hadn't been done. What to do.......I know, some of the people at the FPFHG are on Ancestry they might look for me, so I sent off an email to our mailing list asking for a lookup. Well 3 people responded almost instantly, but one went the extra mile, then another extra mile, until she was running a marathon. Over the next week we shared many emails with names and places and we looked back at letters my GGG-M received from England during the 1860-1890's and transcribed names and events which we tried to pinpoint to events on Ancestry, Familysearch, in fact any site we could think of. Well to cut a long story short, we now have a Newspaper article from 1852 proclaiming the marriage of GGG-m and GGG-F; a record of the death of my GGGG-F; a record of the second marriage for GGGG-F; many names of children, husbands and uncles and aunts. So I have sent for the Marriage and Death certificate of my GGGG-F and am waiting patiently [?] for these to come from England. Then the next step will begin............... My sister Mary Ann and I would sincerely like to thank Robin Hagedorn for her incredible research skills. Ros. You might like to change some of the wording if you dont think it sounds right.
