Hi I learnt an unexpected lesson this week that I thought might be useful to share. I found an error on my own birth certificate from 1959 that I've had since 1998. My mother & I have been researching our family history since 1996 & have checked the official records for many others but never looked closely at our own. For some reason I picked it up to read & found my mother's place of birth was incorrectly listed. I sent a copy of my birth certificate & my mother's to the Births, Deaths & Marriages office in Adelaide with a letter asking them to correct the error & ring me if there is any cost. They not only corrected their records but offered me a replacement birth certificate at no cost. It pays to ask & check! Regards Kerry
