    3. Well done, to all involved on the day, great effort!! Sharon -----Original Message----- From: fpfhg-list-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:fpfhg-list-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Keith Jones Sent: Sunday, 7 October 2012 3:54 PM To: fpfhg-list@rootsweb.com Subject: [FPFHG-LIST] Bunnings BBQ 6 Oct. 2012 Hi Members Just to let you know that Bob Beaton tells me that the BBQ yesterday yielded a nett profit of $1220 after expenses which I think is an excellent result. It was a long day from 8.45 am to 4.45 pm but the result makes it all worthwhile. I want to thank all those members who helped at different times during the day. At one stage during the busy lunch time period I counted 9 people there to assist which meant that some could get a rest. I never fail to be amazed at the level of volunteers within the Group who give of their time & talents in a whole variety of ways. Not all groups are so lucky. 3. Hi all Yes, Joan was a key figure with the congress organisation -- a dynamo. Keith, who was on the organising committee too, representing SAGHS, said that Joan was the backbone of the organisation and the whole thing probably would have fallen over without her. I'm sure she'll be a great speaker. 3. Hi Mary Ann Thanks for the offer but I have the book which I have read from cover to cover as well as a book called Saga of Wangaraleednie. My problem is that my husband's grandfather was a local man called Alfred George Reed but generally know as George Reed whose father was called John Reed but nothing more is known about who this John Reed is. I had wondered about another Reed family in the area which had settled at Mitchelville and the Francis Reed who had settled with 2 sons had a brother called John who eventually settled in the Cleve area but had come from the Orrorroo area with wife and family. He married this lady in 1880 but Alfred George Reed was born in 1873. There does not seem to be a record of his birth and I wonder if he is the illegitimate son of John Reed but there is no evidence. Just my suspiscion. The Reeds parents settled in Willunga sometime in the 1860s. I am told by my sister-in-law that Alfred George was brought up by his grand parents but we do not know who they were. Peter thought that John Reed had come from Orrorroo and his sister thought that he was from Victoria. Alfred George was on a property in the area in 1900 when he met and married a local girl called Hannah Eliza Hale form Utera Plains. When children arrived he started a transport business where he was a courier and had a hire car. This is about all I know. There is a John Reed buried in the Yeelanna cemetery who fits the date. So you can see my dilemma. A lady called Bev Hoader who is very involved with the local museum is looking up what she can. She says some local records were destroyed in a fire about 1911.
