Hi Kath, A response here for the information given from Anne Dow regarding English Clergy on the website theclergydatabase.org.uk/jsp/search/index/jsp I immediately checked this website as I have two Redman's who ministered at Cambridge in the 1500's. I needed to clarify the information I already had which showed John Redman as the first Dean of Cambridge, who was buried in Westminster Abbey, and Thomas Redman who was the first Dean of the Jesus House at Cambridge. The website started the records in 1540, and guess what I found. John Redman, 1540-1547, DD, Archdeacon (RY) of Stafford 13/11/1540 =5/8/1547, Source LRO b/a/1/14111 Register. Jurisdiction, Lee, Rowland, Coventry and Litchfield 1534 to 1543. AND his patron was King Henry the V111th. Next Thomas Redman, 1544 - 1557, MA, BD, Cambridge/Trinity College. Ordination events; 1. 1st Tonsure , 2. Doorkeeper, 3. Reader, 4. Exorcist, 5. Acolyte, 6. Subdeacon, 7. Deacon, 8. Priest. All recorded as 20/12/1553 (Chetham, Thomas/Sidon 1526-1558.) Appointment events, Rector; Teversham (1557-1557), Vicar: Heversham (9/5/1557- 13/11/1570. My point is that the information I already had was not necessarily accurate, and is now added to and corrected. So researching certainly is very pertinent. I can now add this detail as an amendment to my tree. The above detail was worth looking at. Another interesting point for those of us who I may not have told, taken from my source was that Robert Redman took 500 pound of the family funds, and ran off with John Wesley, and came home after the money ran out!!! mmm, no understanding of the impact of the evangelism of John Wesley. Sincerely Graham Redman. On 2/21/13, Kathleen Fisher <kathfisher6@hotmail.com> wrote: > Hello everyone > > I am about to start on the April Journal. Hello everyone I am about to start on the April Journal. So can those who contribute regular items please get them in by the end of February. It would be wonderful to include as many people from our association and experiences in the journal. You can write an article about your research experiences. Short items are fine such as the "aha" moment or news of a family reunion or visit. You may have an interesting experience in your travels. If you have read anything about genealogy or a relevant history book you would like to review the Resource Room Committe is always looking out for new recommendations. Please send pictures as well, if you have, which can add to your item. Also if you know of events coming up between April and July please let me know so that I can promote them in the journal. I attended all 11 of his presentations because I realised that his knowledge and very engaging presentations were exceptional. For those who have booked for Monday I can say that I learnt an incredible amount from the topics he will present next Monday. I hope that I can encourage everyyone else to go. It is indeed a special experience. Although Paul is based in America he grew up in England and his ancestors come from England and Ireland. You will be captivated. His knowledge of records is extremely comprehensive and his ability to create contexts for research sent a clear message about the worlds our ancestors lived in. Please find below a snippet from “Who Do You Think You Are” newsletter. Thousands of Scottish property records have been added to the collection at <http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk> www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk enabling family historians to discover both landowners and their tenants. A vast collection of Scottish property records has been uploaded to the web. The release at <http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk> www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk comprises over 74,000 pages from the 1905 Valuation Rolls, which were compiled to provide details of every building in the country that was assessed as having a rateable value, with information regarding proprietors, tenants and occupiers also recorded. Hi all, To recycle old TV's can be a money spinner. As I have been part of Mission World aid recently, we had a lot of TV's thrown at us. I was involved in dismantling them, and know how to safely de-vacuum the tubes. The copper and wire from these sets can accumulate quickly and can reap financially. In the past even the circuit boards were worth a dollar or so. To dismantle a large number can take time, but at a rate of one every 30 minutes if your slow. Just for info. The following is a snippet from the "Who do you Think You are Newsletter" Cheers, Sharon Thousands of records from the Isle of Man's heritage collections have been released online at <http://www.imuseum.im/> www.imuseum.im providing a second point of access to the physical iMuseum complex in Douglas. As well as providing hundreds of artworks, sound recordings and photographs of artefacts currently housed in museums across the Isle of Man, many of the records most important to genealogists - such as baptism, marriage and burial records - are also included. Each document carries a detailed catalogue description and is fully transcribed, meaning that its contents can be searched by keyword or browsed by category. Once users have identified an image or document relevant to their research interests, they can 'pin' items to a digital album for downloading and printing later.
