Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/GKX.2ACIB/7105 Message Board Post: Hi Ada: My great grandfather was Riley Fox, born in Orange Co., IN, Oct. 1820, son of George (Possibly George Washington ) Fox and Miss Vestal (possibly Elizabeth). Our Fox lineage comes from Germany in approx. 1739/1740 (Jacob Fox/Fuchs). He settled in Bucks County, PA., One of his sons was David Theobold Fox (born 1738 in Germany prior to coming to the U.S. with mother & father, Jacob). One of David's sons was George, born abt. 1767 or 1769 (there were 10 children in all). David moved his family to Chatham Co., NC, after the first 7 children were born. Three were born in NC. They lived next door to the Vestal family when in NC. Later, George married a Vestal daughter (possibly Elizabeth).They had children in NC, moved north and West into Ohio, where son Zimri was born, and then into Indiana. Riley was born there in Orange County, IN., in 1820, and his mother died a short time later, possibly in childbirth. The family moved to the Georgetown, IN., area where George died in 1828. Riley was raised by another family after being indentured by George in 1822. He grew up and married Caroline Elrod , and they moved to Weatherford, Parker Co., Texas abt. 1855 or 1856. I decend from one of his sons, Albert Harrison Fox.
