    3. Hi, Is anyone researching my 4th great grandfather Daniel FOX & family ? Barbara Reeves Whittaker Mesa, AZ [email protected] Hopkins County Kentucky History Book Vol 1-1806-1988; pg 113, DANIEL FOX - "Daniel Fox was born in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley on 1 Jan 1766. In 1780 he enlisted N.C.'s Wilkes Co. Courthouse under Captain Joel Lewis and Col. Green and marched to Guilford Courthouse where he joined the 7th N.C. Regiment as a private and fought the British under Lord Cornwallace. He served with Titus Fox, son of James Fox of Burke Co., N.C. who died in Hopkins Co. in 1812, another early Hopkins Co., KY, settler. In 1787, Daniel married Elizabeth in Burke County. and in 1809 he entered land by certificate from Henderson Co., and became an official Hopkins Co. settler. Hendley Wade knew Daniel, 1807, had 15 yr. old child and one older child and John B. Cunningham, 1813, knew Daniel's child, a grown man. Daniel's revolutionary pension papers (W9443) only list his surviving children of 1845; Pleasant Fox who moved to Pope Co., IL, by 1820 and Nancy (born 16 June 1793, NC) who married Reuben Reev! es (born 13 Aug 1795); their children: John (24 Jan 1814), Mary Ann (1 Mar 1817), Elijah (18 Apr 1819), Manurvy (8 Aug 1821), William (17 Aug 1823) who acts as executor of his grandmother Fox's estate in 1851, and Absalom (14 Aug 1825). Perhaps if the other Daniel Fox children can be identified, someone will be able to submit DAR papers on the patriot Daniel. In 1830, Daniel and Nathan Fox (1794-1838) moved to Pope County. The only other Fox's living in the area were Pleasant, who served as 2nd Lt. in IL Militia in 1828, and James N. Fox

    3. Add to the area, just across in the Alexander/Pulaski (Pulaski neighbors Pope to the west) area my Elijah Fox. Elijah was reportedly born in North Carolina, about 1800. I know of 4 children Harriet, born 1825, Hugh born 1830, Sarah born 1836 and Adeline born 1838. Harriet and Hugh were born in NC to the best of my knowledge, Sarah, my GG grandmother has been listed as born both in Alexander County and in Warren County, TN. When she filed for her second husbands Mexican War pension she listed herself as born in Alexander county, So that puts one more Fox family in that little region by the mid- 1830's coming out of NC. I'm still nowhere with that particular line, and have no other info on my Elijah. Not even sure of when he died, I have not been able to find a death listing for him.
