Patricia, Don't feel bad, that MIME message looked odd to me as well and I work in tech support with computers all day long. It appeared to, me that someone may have contracted a nuisance virus maybe that spit out part of another e-mail or a fax that was stored on their PC. The only person I see that posted twice today was Lois and those were marriage record listings that she posted. She did mention that in the first email bit not the second. It is easy to get confused at first, but you will get the hang of it. You will see a lot of postings that are generalized information like that. Many of us find things that are not of use to us but may be useful to another so it gets posted for everyone to see and possibly make a match from. I hope you'll excuse an old lady but I am new to this list and I don't know a lot about computers. Today I received 3 e-mails from this list that have confused me. Two had the same e-mail addresses in their messages that I guess were about obits. I could not bring it up on my computer. Is it my computer that is the problem or the e-mail addresses. Meare is a parish and Godney is a chapel in the parish of Meare. I have gone carefully through the Meare parish registers, and I can find no record of his baptism. There seems to be only one couple of child-bearing age in Meare at the proper time, and I find three children born to them: William and Elizabeth (Betty) Fox had children Betty (1786), Ann (1788), Jane (1790, and William (1793). Elizabeth Fox, wife of William, died in Meare and was buried there in 1798. When I went to the Godney Chapel records, I found them very incomplete. In fact, they skip, for some reason, from 1783 to 1840. I did find two children born to William and Elizabeth (Betty) Fox: Hannah (1781) and Betty (1783). (Note: all these dates are dates of baptism.) According to the age George Fox gave to census-takers, he could have been born anywhere from 1796 to 1803. In the 1871 Census, he gave his age as 72, which would have made him born about 1799 or so. In the 1861 Census, he gave his age as 65, which would have made him born about 1796 or so. In 1851, his age was given as 48, which would have made him born about 1803. I surmise that his mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Fox and that she died in childbirth when he was born. Note: I have absolutely no proof of that, since I cannot find a record of his baptism. George Fox married Sarah ?, and they lived in Street, which is about 10 miles from Meare, for much or most of George's adult life. George Fox was my ggggrandfather. George and Sarah's children were Elizabeth, William, and Joseph. Elizabeth Fox married John Smith in Street in 1851 and gave birth to two daughters, Emma, 1852, and Elizabeth Ann, 1854. Elizabeth, who was my greatgrandmother, died in 1855 at age 23. Emma and Elizabeth Ann Smith went to live with George and Sarah Fox, their maternal grandparents, and are found in their household in the next two Censuses, 1861 and 1871. Emma Smith married William Westlake Gardiner, and they immigrated to America in 1881-1882. They were my greatgrandparents. I would be interested in any information about this family. I am desperate to find a record of George's birth/baptism and of William's and Elizabeth's marriage. I am also very interested in the maiden name of Sarah Fox, wife of George Fox. She gives her place of birth as Horrington, West Horrington, and Chilcot Manor, all in Somerset County. Thanks for any input from anyone who might know anything!
