I too have been looking for the Fox ansestors in western Pa. My grandmother was Sara Fox and her father was Lyeman Fox. My Grandmother was born in Mount Pleasant, Pa. Westmoreland County. It is very close to Allegainey County and to Oil City. You may want to search there. The family folk lore says that there where 14 Fox boys who came from Germany in the 1700's through Philidelphia, Pa. and spread all over this part of the country. We have also heard that the name was indian of which I have not found any prove of that yet. The German spelling of our name was Faux. I beleive that we may be related. My grandmother Sara had a brother named Ralph who resided in New Eagle, Pa. And she has a living brother Larnie Fox in Slippery Rock Pa. He is married, his wife's name is Mary. They are both in their ninties now I beleive. He was a professer at Slippery Rock College. I hope this helps you out. Keep me i! nformed I have a message board here for Lyeman Fox.

Where, in time, we might find one is the proximity of the Foxes in the one county. Most of the Foxes remained in Iowa (although they originated from Nebraska during that time period). I'll keep your line in mind as I try to sort out all these Foxes! Thank you, Sue
