In a message dated 99-06-15 19:02:19 EDT, you write: << Subj: [FOWLER-L] Texas Fowlers Reply to Juanita: America Fowler, son of John & Mary(Molly) had 6 known children. One of them was Joseph Fowler (my line). Joseph md a Lucy A. (last name unknown). They had children in Ala, TN, & AR. Joseph & Lucy A. both died in Fannin Co., TX. Their sons Daniel, b abt 1821, Josiah, b abt 1824 are known to have died in Fannin Co., TX. The other sons were John, James, Alfred, Stephen & William. Have not traced this sons as my line is a daughter, Mary Ann who md Calvin Gage. Donna L. >> Donna & List, I'm behind on my emails but wanted to respond to the post above as well as the one dated 6/15/99 titled, "John FOWLER". I had posted a query sometime back on John T. FOWLER as well as Lucinda FOWLER who married Squire HERRON / HERIN. After reading your post, I wonder if the FOWLER line you mention could be my John T. FOWLER line. My FOWLERs were also in GA & AL. I suspect they moved on to MS as well with some of the other family with whom they were conncected. I also show a Daniel P. FOWLER who went to TX. Here is the document below showing reference to John T. FOWLER, Daniel FOWLER of TX & my HERRING line. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ from Gandrud's Alabama Records [Vol 227, Lauderdale Co][pg 044][Probate Minutes Book A 1852-1853] Book A, page 423. John Gray, Administrator of John T. Fowler dec'd, filed petition to sell land in Sec. 29 Tp 2 R9W. The following are the heirs at law: William P. Herring, George C. Herring, Mary Isaacs, Francis M. Herring, Arnold M. Herring, Nancy L. Herring, Lucinda S. Herring, Robert T. Fowler, Mahala White, Mary C. Herring and Daniel Pl Fowler. The first four reside in Mississippi and the others in Lauderdale Co., Ala. except Mary C. Herring who resides in Franklin Co., Ala. and Daniel P. Fowler of the State of Texas. Richard B. Baugh is appointed guardian ad litem for the minors named. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is interesting to note that in the document above, John GRAY / GRACY was the administrator of John T. FOWLER's estate since Zachariah GRAY is mentioned in the post regarding John FOWLER, Laurens Co., in a claim of settlement with FOWLER heirs in GA & AL concerning the will of John FOWLER, dated 20 July 1787 (Bk. A-1, pg 32), Laurens Co.. <<In 1838 after wife Molly's death, Edith, widow of Thomas Mitchell Fowler and other heirs, lviing in Georgia and Alabama, claimed from Zachariah Gray and William Fowler the 150 acres which had been Molly's (Laurens Deed Bk. N, pg 262).>> Also, you mentioned that <<Zachariah and Caroline Charlotte had moved to the Dials Community before this and William Fowler moved about 1850 to Texas.>> What was Zachariah GRAY's relationship to the FOWLERs? Was Caroline Charlotte a FOWLER? Here is the rest of the FOWLER information that was sent with my original post. I send it because I think Lucinda FOWLER is my link to John T. FOWLER but am not sure at this point. : Lucinda FOWLER, married Squire HERRON in 1830 Hall Co., GA. ------------- 1834 Cherokee Co., GA Census (Sworn to on March 29, 1834) Census lists Squire HERRING with 6 people in his household. ------------- 1850 Census of Lauderdale Co AL: p. Sept. 11, 1831 in GA, d. June 30, 1905 in MS, m. Sarah Ann ROGERS, named in the above John T. FOWLER document, is my gg grandfather. William P. HERRING had the following known brothers & sisters: ***Frances M. HERRING, b. January 1835 in GA, m. Serena B. ROGERS, d. in TX Caroline P. HERRING, b. June 26, 1836 in GA, m. Isaac E. HERRING, b. ca. 1849 in AL, m. William T. ASHFORD As you can see from the above information, William P. HERRING's birthdate & place, plus the fact that he & his siblings are named "heirs at law" in a court document concerning the estate of John T.FOWLER, & the 1850 Census of Lauderdale Co., AL, showing Squire HERIN, husband of Lucinda FOWLER, living in the same county as John T. FOWLER, having children in his household with basically the same names & ages as William P. HERRING's siblings, leads me to think that Squire HERRON / HERIN & Lucinda FOWLER are my ggg HERRING grandparents. William P. HERRING & his brother, Francis HERRING were old enough by 1850 that they could have been on their own thereby not being in Squire's household during the census. I would really appreciate input on these findings. Also, any input on the possible connection of this FOWLER / HERRING line to the John FOWLER of Laurens Co., will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
