I'm researching John FOWLER who married Phebe HOCKETT in Ohio and am coming up dry regarding John's origins. Since the Hockett family spent a considerable time in Randolph County, Indiana - I looked at a county history for clues and found a biographical entry for Hezekiah FOWLER which discussed this family has having a strong presence in that county as well as Darke County, Ohio. From this history, I can construct the following pedigree: Hezekiah FOWLER b. Frederick Co., Md (move to Holmes Co., Oh prior to war of 1812, moved to Darke Co., Oh in 1818 and lived there until 1830. Nov 1831 moved to Ind.) m. Isabel DUVAL of Darke Co., Oh Had 9 children - only one mentioned: Hanson T. FOWLER (eldest son) b. 12/14/1823 Darke Co., Oh m1. 1850 Sarah LIVENGOOD, dau. John LIVENGOOD ch: W.W. FOWLER, b. 11/5/1851, m. 1879 Ella BRAMBAUGH Hezekiah FOWLER, b. 6/10/1853 Darke Co., OH Jacob FOWLER, b. 8/28/1855 Lewis FOWLER, b. 1856, d. 1856 Given the time frames and the locality, I'm wondering if my John was related to this family. Perhaps he was a brother of Hezekiah from Maryland? Or a nephew? Does anyone have information on this family to help determine if John is in fact part of this family or to prove that he's not?
