Seeking information on and descendants of FOWLERS who lived in Bowdon area of Carroll County, GA, late 1800s and early 1900s, descendants of JOEL (Joseph) B. FOWLER (1861-1929) and first wife, ELIZA BALLENGER (1854-1894), and second wife, ELLA TWEEDELL (1867-1937). Joel Fowler married Eliza Ballenger (daughter of Albert Ballenger and Mary Elizabeth Walden) on 24 Dec 1880 in Cleburne Co., AL and had the following children: 1. JOHN ALBERT FOWLER (1881-1946) m. Eva VINYARD 2. ZERA FOWLER (1882-1883) buried Ranburne Baptist Church in Cleburne County. 3. GEORGE EMMETT FOWLER (1883-1935) m. Bessie Lee MITCHELL 4. MAMIE SARAH ELIZABETH FOWLER (1885-1951) m. James Edward BRADBERRY 5. ANNIE ESTELLE FOWLER b. 25 May 1889 (no further information) 6. WILLIAM JAMES FOWLER b. Nov 1891, m. Blanche YOUNG Eliza Ballenger Fowler died 5 Aug 1894 and on 4 Sep 1895, Joel remarried to ELLA TWEEDELL, daughter of John T. TWEEDELL and Phoebe STEPHENSON. Joel and Ella had the following children: 1. BERTHA V. FOWLER b. Oct 1896 (no further information) 2. CHARLES W. FOWLER b. April 1898, m. Maude Unknown 3. MINNIE BELL FOWLER (1900-1975) never married. Was a school teacher. 4. PAULINE FOWLER, b. abt 1903, m. Earl L. JACKSON 5. THOMAS RALPH FOWLER (1905-1969) m. Pearl COLE 6. MARIE FOWLER, b. abt 1908, may have married a GAYLE (no further information) JOEL B. FOWLER was the youngest child of JOHN FOWLER (son of NATHAN FOWLER and ELIZABETH PEPPER[s]) and SARAH ANN NORRIS (dau. of John "Jethro" NORRIS and Mary JOHNSON), who moved from Gwinnett County to Campbell County in the 1860s, where John Fowler died sometime after 1873. SARAH ANN NORRIS FOWLER and all her children then moved to Cleburne County, Alabama, about 1878. Joel and Ella are found in the 1900 Cleburne County census, and had moved to Bowdon in Carroll County by 1910. Joel B. Fowler is the brother of my great-grandfather, WILLIAM JETHRO FOWLER.
