    3. Not sure if any of you have seen Wharton Dickinson's work or not, but here is some of it. I have not verified any of the data listed here. I believe my connection is through John Fowler (21), son of Henry III Fowler and Rebecca Newell or Foote. Though I can show that Benjamin is the son of John, I have not been able to prove that it is this John yet without question. I will send this in two parts. Descendants of Thomas Fowler Generation No. 1 1. Thomas1 Fowler was born Abt. 1530 in Eng. He married Sarah Kevington Abt. 1559. She was born Abt. 1535 in Eng. Notes for Thomas Fowler: This information is based, except for John Fowler son of Henry and Rebecca (Newell) Fowler and a few additional comments here and there, on research done by Wharton Dickinson in Genealogy of the FOWLERS in England and America. He goes back several more generations, but I have not incorporated those generations into my database. Children of Thomas Fowler and Sarah Kevington are: + 2 i. Henry2 Fowler I, born Bef. 1560 in Eng. 3 ii. Thomas Fowler, Jr., born Abt. 1562. + 4 iii. Robert Fowler, born Abt. 1566. + 5 iv. William Fowler, born Abt. 1567. Generation No. 2 2. Henry2 Fowler I (Thomas1) was born Bef. 1560 in Eng. He married Annis Knight Abt. 1580 in Eng. She was born Abt. 1562 in Eng. Children of Henry Fowler and Annis Knight are: + 6 i. Henry3 Fowler II, born Bef. 1581 in Eng. 7 ii. Roger Fowler, born Abt. 1583. 8 iii. John Fowler, born Abt. 1585. 9 iv. Susan Fowler, born Abt. 1587. She married John Jackstown. 10 v. Anne Fowler, born Abt. 1589. 4. Robert2 Fowler (Thomas1) was born Abt. 1566. He married Elizabeth Darby. Child of Robert Fowler and Elizabeth Darby is: 11 i. Richard3 Fowler. 5. William2 Fowler (Thomas1) was born Abt. 1567. He married Sarah Walker. Children of William Fowler and Sarah Walker are: 12 i. Theodore3 Fowler. 13 ii. John Fowler. 14 iii. Samuel Fowler. 15 iv. Sarah Fowler. Generation No. 3 6. Henry3 Fowler II (Henry2, Thomas1) was born Bef. 1581 in Eng. He married Unknown. Child of Henry Fowler and Unknown is: + 16 i. Henry4 Fowler III, born Abt. 1632 in Hambleton, Co. Rutland, Eng; died 1704 in NY. Generation No. 4 16. Henry4 Fowler III (Henry3, Henry2, Thomas1) was born Abt. 1632 in Hambleton, Co. Rutland, Eng, and died 1704 in NY. He married Rebecca Newell June 04, 1655 in Providence, Providence Co., RI, daughter of Abraham Newell and Frances -----. She was born July 15, 1637 in Roxbury, Essex Co., MA. Notes for Henry Fowler III: Henry Fowler b. 1632 according to Visitation of Rutland, but in 1634 according to his sworn statement in 1655. He journeyed from London, England to Roxbury, MA about 1652 or 1653. He came with Joshua Foote, "Ironmonger and citizen of London," and subsequently accompanied Foote to Providence in January 1654. At that time, he purchased 60 acres of upland and a share of meadow from Joshua Winsor, and 58 acres from Valentine Whiton. He married at Foote's house in June 1655, Rebecca, daughter of his master (so should his wife's last name be Foote?). He was rebuked by Roger Williams for marrying without a license. He was an executor of his father-in-law's will in 1656. On June 4, 1655, he was chosen a juryman at the Providence town meeting. In 1656, he bought 253 acres of land from Richard Bullock. He sold land to William Arnold in 1658. In 1661, he and wife, Rebecca, sold 200 acres of upland at Providence. In 1665, he received a share in the division of lands at Providence. He appears to go to Fairfield, CT in 1665, and then, in 1666 to East Chester and is there until 1672, when he returned to Rhode Island. After the massacres in King Philip's War, 1676, he was one of the 38 who went to Long Island and received land at Musceta Cove in Oyster Bay (Rhode Island His. Mag., Vol. 6, p. 205). In 1678, however, he returned to East Chester, leaving his eldest son, William (if indeed William is his eldest son, then dates given for Henry and William are in error), at Flushing and his third son, George, at Hempstead. Henry was living at Mamaroneck as early as 1680. In that year, he entered into an agreement to build a sawmill there. He had purchased all rights of Jeremiah Caniff in the Mamaroneck Township, including house lot number one and a 15-acre piece of fresh meadow lying directly across the Sheldrake River from the house lot. The sawmill was located upon this fresh meadow tract. He called himself a "blacksmith," but was probably an "ironmonger" as was his friend, Joshua Foote. As such, he was a manufacturer of hardware. On March 17, 1683/4, he obtained another 92 acres of land at Providence. In 1684, he deeded 60 acres of land at Providence to his son-in-law, William Randall. He deeded land at Mamaroneck to his son William, still in Flushing, Sept. 19, 1687 (Liber A, p. 211, Wills). He was in Rhode Island in 1695 and again in 1698. He died intestate in 1704. He was one of the original patentees of Eastchester, Westchester Co., NY, however, he does not appear to have ever lived there. Here is some data that seems conflicts with information above. Henry is said to have sworn allegiance to King Charles II at Providence in 1666. In that same year, he and his wife sold 23 acres of land at Providence to John Brown. In 1671, he was chosen as one of the deputies to the General Assembly at Newport, RI. He received 74 acres and 37 acres, respectively, in the 1675 division of lands at Providence. Children of Henry Fowler and Rebecca Newell are: + 17 i. Rebecca5 Fowler, born Abt. 1656 in Providence Co., RI; died March 23, 1729/30. + 18 ii. Henry Fowler IV, born Abt. 1658 in Providence Co., RI. + 19 iii. William Fowler, born Abt. 1660 in Providence Co., RI; died February 1711/12 in East Chester, Westchester Co., NY. + 20 iv. George Fowler, born Abt. 1662 in Providence Co., RI. + 21 v. John Fowler, born Abt. 1663 in Providence, Providence Co., RI. + 22 vi. James Fowler, born Abt. 1664 in Providence Co., RI. 23 vii. Moses Fowler, born Abt. 1666. Notes for Moses Fowler: All that is known of him is that he was Town Clerk of East Chester from 1711 to 1723, and was the executor of his brother Henry's will. He probably died unmarried. 24 viii. Mary Fowler, born Abt. 1668 in Providence Co., RI. She married Richard Ward. 25 ix. Sarah Fowler, born Abt. 1667 in Providence Co., RI. She married (1) Samuel Goodwin. She married (2) Edward Hancock. 26 x. Newell Fowler, born Abt. 1668 in Providence Co., RI. Notes for Newell Fowler: She received from her father a tract of land in Providence by deed of gift. 27 xi. Grace Fowler, born Abt. 1670 in Providence Co., RI. She married John Hunt. + 28 xii. Jeremiah Fowler, born Abt. 1671 in Providence Co., RI; died December 1723.
