    3. Fran, for some reason the last message I sent got returned will try to sent this to see if it works. If not I will go back and try to find your email somewhere else. I sent a copy to rootsweb message board also. Hi Fran, I have seen your name often in the posts. So far, looks like you are one of the most active Fowler researchers I have seen out there. I would love to share info with you since I believe you will have more reliable data. My line is William John's brother who went to Fentress county. For right now I only have his line up on the web site because I dont want to pass along bogus info. I want the web site to be a place where we can share accurate infomation. I have two folders full of documentation and am scanning it little by little. My problem is that since Fentress County is up there in the hills, fire destroyed most of the records before 1936. From what I have seen, your line is pretty well documented after John moves to Hopkins County. Have you had any luck with Mark? I am working on a theory that maybe he went by the name Francis in some cases. I have found info on a Francis that noone seems to have. Hinshaw's Enclyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy Vol VI p177 10/12/1736 Francis Fowler signed a certificate of marriage held in the house of Joseph Pattison, Prince George Co., First time name appears. This marriage is John Merryman Prince George to Hannah Pattison relict of Wm of Prince George. The other witness mentioned are Joseph Mag't and Mary Pattison, Godfrey, John and Ann Fowler. This additonal info comes from a tiny loose leaf document I found at the Oregon Genealogy Forum in Portland titled: Marriage Records of Henrico Co. MM of Friends, Virginia 1699-1757. typed by the Genealogy Society of Utah, Salt Lake City 1937 Again, on 5/5/1753, Francis Fowler served on a marriage committee for William Beams and Elizabeth Pattyson. Hinshaw's Enclyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy Vol VI p177 Note: Beams is probably Reams since that is what it says in the Marriage Records of Henrico Co. MM of Friends, Virginia 1699-1757. typed by the Genealogy Society of Utah, Salt Lake City 1937 6/6/1753, Godfrey and Francis Fowler were witness to the marriage of Wm. Reams and Mary Pattyson. Marriage Records of Henrico Co. MM of Friends, Virginia 1699-1757. typed by the Genealogy Society of Utah, Salt Lake City 1937 I have found no other reference in anyone's online trees that would suggest there was a Francis born early enough (probably bef 1720) to be this Francis. However, I do find Francis, Francis Jr. and and another son Samuel Mercer Fowler in Granville Co., NC as early as 1764 and 1765 on the tithables tax list and Richard and Thomas Fowler (presumably sons of Mark) mentioned in Granville as a chain carrier as early as 1758. If this were Francis, son of Godfrey Jr. b. abt 1740, he would be only 13 in 1753 and not even born in 1736. On a side note, it is probably this latter Fowler line that Jim is researching. I find part of that line going into Georgia as well. Jim, let me know who you are researching exactly and I will see what I have found or can find. There is a lot of misinformation that I have found but if everyone participates, we can weed out the bad from the good. I actually wiped out everything that I haven't researched personally from my database because I felt it was too full of holes, twists and turns. Another side note, in Burke's American Families with British Ancestry : Lineages of 1,600 families now resident of U.S.. Baltimore, Maryland, Bernard Burke, Genealogical Publishing Company, 1970. p2691/2692, it states the original John Fowler was the son of Francis Fowler. I dont know whose wrong here. This one book that clais to contain the most accurate info or thousands of others who claim Christopher Fowler as his father. One thing is for sure, the name Christopher never appears the again among any of the descendants of John Fowler however, Francis does appear several times. I would love to get a discussion started on this whole matter on my Fowler family site. Things are pretty bare there right now. It's only me talking to myself haha In fact, I think I will paste a copy of this there. Jim just received your email. Will look at it and get back to you.
