There was also a pension application filed on Aug 6 1892 by Hannah Fowler et al (children of William Fowler), application number is 556650. In service records found on microfilm at the Tennessee state library, there is a statement of service reference slip dated December 9, 1914 stating medical records were not found in reference to claim number 556650 See pension file Note: William, Etherial and John, were brothers, sons of William Fowler and Nancy Ann Byars. They were born probably in the Tar River Dist of Granville, NC and the family migrated to Fentress County, TN in about 1835/36 after Nancy Ann Byars' father, William Byars, died. From there, they crossed over into Kentucky, like many Fentress Countians, to fight for the Union. They were all mustered out on Jan. 10, 1865 in Camp Nelson, KY. Etherial stayed in Casey Co., KY. William and John returned home to Fentress County, TN.
