He was born in Alabama in 1819. Married twice that I know of. I suspect he may have been married one other time looking at the dates. He married (2)? Sarah Clifton born in Tennessee. They had 6 known children: Sarah Elizabeth, James Knox Polk, M. E. (daughter), Tennessee C. Eliza J and maybe, Eli Calvin, Jr. Children's ages run from 1842 to 1860. Sarah died (or disappears) before 1878 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, where Eli married (3)? Mrs. Phoebe C. Hawkins. On the 1880 Census she is listed as Phily or Shely. (Looks more like Phily to me but the index has it has Shely). She was born in 1833 in Kentucky.. Does anyone know anything about these people? Who were Eli's parents?
