Folks. Looking for information on the family of Alexander FOWLER who married Mrs. Almeda (McGowan) Wilkins on Jan. 11, 1881 in Gallatin Co., IL. If this data is correct, interesting, because in the 1880 Census of neighboring White County, Illinois is the family of : Alexander FOWLER, 35, Laborer, IL/TN/TN; Almada FOWLER, 25, Wife, IL/TN/TN George F. FOWLER, 12, Son, IL/IL/IL Samuel W. FOWLER, 3, Son, IL/IL/IL Almada (or Almeda) McGowan, was the daughter of Wiley and Tabitha (Norris) McGowan. Wiley was born ca. 1803 in Hyde Co., NC, moved with family members to White Co., Tennessee where he married Tabitha. By 1857, Wiley moved his family to Saline Co., Illinois and several of his daughters married White County, Illinois men. As you can see from the census, Alexander Fowler's parents were also from Tennessee. I would greatly appreciate any information on Alexander and Almeda Fowler and their descendants. Thanks, John McGowan jmack@carolina.net
