As the list is active at the moment I should like to know if anyone has info on John Edward Fowler (my Gt Grandfather) born according to 1901 Census c1869 Kingston on Thames, Surrey, UK. He married Emma Wiles March 10 1895 in St. Marks Church, Bow, London. His father was John Fowler, bricklayer(according to the marriage certificate). Any more details would be greatly appreciated. Hi John, I have looked over the 1901 Census for John Edward Fowler born abt 1869 in Kingston on Thames, Surrey and married to an Emma and find nothing.....Is he recorded under Fowler? or was there a misspelling of the name... I went to 1891 and found an Edward J Fowler who was b c 1869 but that was in Southwark, Surrey... The only John Fowler I can find in the 1901 born in Kingston, Surrey is 23 years old (c 1879) and a postman...mother is Emma.... Let me know what I am looking for...so I can try to work back for you.. Hi Denise Thank you for responding so quickly, you have got my dilemma straight off in a nutshell. In the 1901 Census my Family is indexed under Towler at 27 Kenton Road Reference RG13/230 F109b:there you will find Edward Fowler age23(transposed I think should read 32), wife Emma 27, son Arthur E 5, dau Elsie 1month, and in the same household Albert Wiles, Emma's younger brother. The marriage certificate from 1895 gives names of John Edward Fowler age 26 Baker, of 31 Benn Street, Hackney son of John Fowler, Bricklayer marries Emma Wiles age 21 of 31 Benn Street, dau of John Wiles, labourer. John Edward Fowler died Jan 2nd 1945 age 76 in Byfield Cottage, Ellis Street, Boxford, Cosford, Suffolk witnessed by E. Fowler widow of same address. I have been unable to trace a birth certificate of John Edward or any mention in the census so I have no idea about his mother or any possible siblings. In short a brick wall. Hi Denise, You could well be my knight in shining armour, please can you help me. For years I have been trying to find the parents of Edward Fowler , or Edward Fowler Parkes who was born in 1866 in Bilston, or Oldbury , Staffs, he married Hannah Share in 1887 at Normanton, Wakefield , Yorks. Hannah was born in 1866 Gornal, Staffs. I have a copy of the l891 Census with Edwards wife, Hannah and family with him but then they disappear again. On his marriage certificate, Edwards Father was written as John Fowler Parkes (deceased) but I know absolutely nothing else, and have been unable to verify that John Fowler did actually marry Hannah Parkes. I feel that Edward probably was named Fowler Parkes because his mother and father were not married at the time. Edward must surely be in the 1871 Census for Oldbury?? I would be eternally grateful to you if you were to confirm who my Great Great Grandad was. Yours in anticipation.
