Hello Tawny------ One of my g3grandmothers was Sarah Catherine Fowler (ca.1765-1839), who was m. (to my g3grandfather) Ignatius Mattingly (1771-ca.1851). Do you have anything on G3Grandmother (Fowler) Mattingly, like more exact dates on her birth and decease dates? And, we are told that her mother was Mary Ann Mattingly but we have no information on her parents, or if she may have been distantly related to her son law, Ignatius Mattingly (1771-ca.1851). I was given some information many years ago and in it, it says: (Please read all the way through and go to the link). "A book called “History of the Fowlers” was compiled (with some help of sixteen others) by Miss Christine Cecilia Fowler, A.M. She was a retired teacher who spent 26 years tracing her ancestors and having the 938 page book published by a Batavia Firm in New York, around 1950. She sold the thousand copies printed for $10.00 each, just the cost of the printing. The book proves the Fowlers came from England and that the generations started in 876, direct descendants of King Henry, the Fowler, the original Fowler. He was one of the Saxons who helped settle the wilderness now called England. The Saxons, Franks, etc., elected him king of central Europe, as he was a wise and humane ruler, but he was not King of England. The book also includes the meaning of the Fowler name and the Coat of Arms with the history and meaning of each feature. The ancient Arms was changed to the present design by King Richard I (Coeur of Lion) at the third Crusade in 1190." Well......I decided to do a search on the internet and I found part of this book that this person is talking about. It lists tons of Fowlers and dates. Thought this might be helpful for this list if you don't already know about it. I hope to find more of this book as well. http://members.aol.com/wtgmike/genealogy/hist.html Happy New Year!!!!!
