Found this today. Appears to have lots of good info on several different surnames, but at least two sites on the FOWLER family. One site has pages from a FOWLER book that I had not seen before; it might be of help to someone. When you get to this site, go to webpages and look under "F" -- http://www.familygenealogyonline.com/ Hope it helps someone! Godspeed... ** From " House of Fowler," p.30 Line of John Fowler the immigrant: He was the son of Rev. Christopher Fowler, a Presbyterian preacher, who married Elizabeth Burgess. Hw was born 1611, died 1676. He was the son of William Fowler, court poet of James VI of Scotland( James I of England). This William was the 2nd son of Sir Richard Fowler II who d. 1477. Sir Richard II was the son of Sir William Fowler of Ricot, Oxford, who was fourth in descent from Sir Richard Fowler, a hero of the third crusade whose seat was at Foxly, Burks.
I am seeking help, information, anything on James N. Fowler. Census indicates that he was born in NY (place unknown). I first find him in IL in the 1840 census (head of household names only). By 1844, he was listed in the Peoria City Directory (IL), occupation: carpenter and joiner. In the 1850 census, he is in Peoria with a household containing: James S., age 16, b. NY; Francis C., age 15, born IL; Laura, age 13, b. IL; Henry, age 11, b. IL; Charles, age 6, b. IL; Leet E ( or Leete), age 4, b. IL; and Nancy, age 33, b. IL. (James N.'s age in the various census' would seem to indicate that he was born in NY about 1808-1811). Nancy was apparently his second wife. Records in Peoria show he married a Nancy Crow 12 Sep 1848, so presumedly his first wife died after Leete was born. Have found no death or burial records for her, and no name. Nancy apparently died before 26 Nov 1850, when he married for a third time to Magdalene McDowell. James N. appears in the1860, 1870 and 1880 census, and in the Peoria City Directory for 1861, 1863, 1868, 1869, 1870-71, and 1880. In the 1880 census, he is shown in the household of his son, Henry, in Iroquois Co., IL. And then he disappears. Through the years, his occupation changed from carpenter and joiner, to ships carpenter, to mechanic. No death or burial records found in Peoria Co., Iroquois Co., Livingston Co., Newton Co (IN), or in locations to which some of his children moved. He just disappears! Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Jeanne

Hi All, Thanks to all who responded to my request for Alonzo Fowler. I have more information on him. In 1862 he joined the Pennsylvania 148th infantry division, "I" company. "I" company was organized in Jefferson County, PA. According to the military deah index he passed away in 1898 in Leavenworth, Kansas. The census index's of Jefferson County, PA (Ancestry.com) List an Alonzo Fowler in the 1850, 1860 census's. believe they only list head of households(not sure). Also my other source says he was born about 1842 somewhere in Pennsylvania (familysearch). So im not sure if he was born in Pa or somewhere else. Five other Fowler names show up on the census index for Jefferson County. They are Samuel (1850), Stephen C. Fowler (1840) who also shows up on the 1830 Tioga, NY census. Stephen Fowler (1860) who is probably Stephen C. and Johnathan Fowler (1860). I feel that Alonzo's father could have been Alonzo which would make 1822 work for his father. Or it could have been any of these people. If Alonzo was born in 1849 he would have been 13 when he volunteered. I dont know if this is possible. Alonzo did have a son in 1874 who is my Gggrandfather. His name was Charles Fowler and he married Mary Frye(Frey). If this information fits better into anyones picture please let me know. Thanks Again. Lu

THERE ARE SEVERAL FOWLER NAMES ON THIS WEB SITE: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4242.htm KATHY IN ARKANSAS
Robert, Your Rial, Ryal, Riel Fowler may be a son of Francis Fowler of Greenville Co., SC. A number of years ago I researched at the Greenville Library and Spartanburg Library and saw many records of Francis and his children, one of whom was Rial. My ancestor Wiley Fowler who was born in Spartanburg Co., SC in 1795 apparently was not a son of Francis as I first suspected so I gave up doing very much work on Francis. My Daniel FOWLER was born in Maryland in 1793. Migrated to Darke County Ohio where I found him in the 1840 and 1850 cencus married to Alice with Clark born 1831 and Ruth born 1836. My husband's WILSON family Bible has the names MOORE, OGLETREE, BASS and WILDER. These enties would have been made after Samuel WILSON died in 1835 in Abbeville, SC. and his wife Parmelia/Permilia with two children, John WW., and Louisa moved to Ala. where I found them in the 1850 and 1860 census! John's children married into these families around 1890 in the counties south and west of Atlanta, Ga. Forgive me for straying from the FOWLER name but sometimes can make a connection with another name that a researcher has posted! Can e-mail me [email protected]

Richmond County in on the GA/SC border. If anyone has any information on the above families, please contact me.
