    2. Are any of your Fowlers from Johnston County, North Carolina? Jim

    1. [FOWLER] John C. Fowler b. @1818 KY & Jackson H. Peter Fowler b. @1815 KY
    2. I am searching for any descendants of John C. Fowler b. @1818 KY or Jackson H. Peter Fowler b. @1815 KY. These two men were in the Osage/Gasconade Co. area of MO in the 1840s. I know Jackson H. Peter Fowler, b. @1815 KY, do not know what part of KY, was married at least twice, last marriage to Josephine Goellner May 1855 in Osage Co., MO. Jackson H. Peter Fowler died June 24, 1866, and is bu. St. Joseph Cemetery in Osage Co. MO. Jackson H. Peter Fowler had the following children: Thomas Fowler b. @1847 MO, George Washington "Wash" Fowler b. @1849, Henry Fowler b. @1856, John Theodore Fowler b. May 30, 1863, Charles George Fowler b. May 11, 1866. Jackson Fowler, a boatman, built a boat to sail the Osage River but the Governor had it and the bridge blown up at the beginning of the Civil War to prevent them from being used by the enemy. I have only located Jackson H. Fowler on one census, 1860 Osage Co. MO. I do not know where he was in 1850, I do not know his first wife's name or his parents names. I suspect his sibling was John C. Fowler because a deed was transferred from Robert Fowler to Jackson H. Fowler and John C. Fowler in Osage Co. MO, 1843. I am not certain who the Robert Fowler was? After Jackson H. Fowler died Josephine Goellner Fowler married Francis Schroeder in 1867, Osage Co. MO John C. Fowler was born @1818 KY, I do not know what part of KY. He married Olivia Heath in Jan. 1843 Gasconade Co. MO. John and Olivia Heath Fowler may have had other children but the ones I know about are: 1. Ellen Fowler b. @1843 MO married Cornelius Lewis (b. @1835 Ireland) in 1861 Collin Co., TX and I never located them after that. I do not know if he died in Civil War? Or if she died? I have no idea what became of them. Cornelius Lewis had been on the 1860 Dallas Co., TX Census living with the family of R. R. Fletcher, working as a laborer. 2. D. William Fowler b. @1845 MO married Cassandra Minerva Jane Enterprise Goodman Sep. 1, 1878 in Van Buren Co. MO. He may have been married prior to that as he was a little long in the tooth for that to have been his first marriage. They had one son, John Henry Fowler b. Jan. 6, 1880, Searcy Co., AR. D. William Fowler was dead by 1884 when his widow remarried. I have never located D. William Fowler on a census after 1860 in Denton Co. TX with his parents. I have no idea where he was 1870, but his parents and 2 youngest sisters were in Granby, Newton Co. MO 1870. His parents and 2 youngest sisters were in Searcy Co. AR 1880 but I never located D. William Fowler, his wife or baby on the 1880 Census. 3. Isabella Fowler b. @1850 MO, she was on the 1860 Stewart Creek, Denton Co. TX Census and I never located her again. I do not know if she married or died? 4. Mary "Mollie" Ann Fowler b. @1855 McKinny, TX. died March 29, 1938, Okla. City, OK. She was an optimist/glutton for punishment who married 5 times a. Robert Meek and they had a son, William Francis Meek(s) b. @ 1874. I heard Robert abandoned Mary and baby Will. I do not know when or where they married. b James Clark Thomas Jan. 1879 Searcy Co. AR. She had son James Clark Thomas b. Dec. 1879 and Fannie Beatrice Thomas b. 1882. This husband died 1886. c. Henry Britton m. 1889 Conway Co. AR. I heard he did not like her children and I heard she divorced him but I have not located the divorce. d. Mr. Tucker, first name unknown and date & place of marriage unknown, she is listed as married with the name of Mary Ann Tucker in 1910 Ada, Pontotoc Co. OK Census but he is not shown with her. She was shown as running a hotel with her daughter Fannie, son in law and grandchild with her but not a husband. I don't know if he had already died or what. e. Henry Ha married Mar. 4, 1931 Okla. City, OK her age 75 and his age is given as 77. She was married to him when she died. He would marry again 1939-1940. Mary Ann had one last child, Mary or Martha "Ethel" born about 1892, but I do not know if the father was Henry Britton or Mr. Tucker. 5. The last child I know about John C. and Olivia Heath Fowler having was Martha "Olivia" Fowler b. @1862 (from earliest census but her age varies all through her census records) Dallas, TX. She would marry Francis M. Matchett and seems to have remained in AR. She had 3 sons, John b. June 1885 AR, Joseph W. Oct. 1889 and Dallas Clarence Matchett, July 1899. I am from John Henry Fowler b. 1880 AR > D. William Fowler b. @1845 MO> John C. Fowler b. @1818 KY. I would appreciate any help on this family as my Grandpa, John Henry Fowler, left home at 11 years old and knew very little about his own father and he also never spoke about his life before he met my Grandma. I know John Henry Fowler met and married a lady named Mary M. Dean in 1900 Woodruff Co. AR and divorced her about 1903 in Yell Co. AR on the grounds of abandonment. I do not know if they had children and I never located her prior to the marriage or after she left him. Some of his own children never knew about that marriage, he never spoke of it and my Dad overheard John Henry Fowler speaking of his first wife to his Mother when my Dad was a child and that is how he knew about it. This has been a really hard search and I know very little about this line. Any help would be appreciated. Charlene

    3. Kathe, Another person who responded to my query seems to have the Jonathan we are searching. He was in Newbury and Barnet Vermont before relocating to Shipton Township where he spent the rest of his life. To the best of our knowledge he was a Revolutionary rather than a Loyalist. They show his birth in Rowley, Essex Co., Mass. in 1737. If these (new-to-me) facts indicate a connection to your Jonathan, I would be more than pleased to explore it with you. War Hi, Since the Fowler list has been so active lately, I decided to post my Fowler information again. John Fowler, b. 1747 Sampson Co., NC d. 1845 Pike Co., AL. Married Hannah Sutton 1765 in NC. Children: James, William, Elizabeth, Beamon, Martha, Samuel, Hardy. John Fowler was a Revolutionary soldier who died in Pike County, Alabama abt 1845 when he was almost 100 years old. He was pensioned for Revolutionary War service in 1832, in Columbus County, North Carolina. In 1843, he applied for transfer of his pension to Pike Co., Alabama where he moved at the age of 90 to be nearer his children and to do better for his family. The 1843 application for transfer of his pension also states that on his way from North Carolina in 1837, he was robbed of his money and pension certificate. John Fowler's pension file is quite lengthy. According to his personal account therein, he was born in 1747, in Sampson (then Duplin) County in North Carolina where he lived when he joined, as a private, a company of Minute Men of which Richard Clinton was captain. Receiving three dollars and a pair of boots as bounty, he enlisted for six months at Matthews Old Field, in Sampson County. He described his unit's participation in the Battle of Moore's Cre! ek bridge near Wilmington and listed service under Captians Richard Clinton, Alfred Moore and William Vann, and under Colonel James Kinyon (Kenan). James Fowler almost certainly married two or more wives. However, no primary documentatiion of his marriages has been foundl (source: Clementine West Hughes, Magnolia, TX) Thanks, Myra Chambers ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

There is a Scottish Luke surname. My Great Grandfather, Ezra Lonzo Fowler, bn 1842, in Ohio, always stated on census records that his mother (my GGGrandmother) was "born at sea" coming from Scotland, probably about 1821-1825. She married a Mr. Fowler, who Ezra stated was born in New York. At some point after their marriage, they migrated to Ohio, where Ezra and other children were born. I am told Ezra had brothers named George, Robert, William, and maybe Albert. From family chit-chat, there is evidence they left Ohio, for Indiana, and Michigan. I have Ezra's history from birth to death. He named his first son "George" and according to the naming pattern that the Fowler's used, George would be Ezra's father's name. I have researched the name George Fowler so much, I feel I know at least 75 of them. Would have been nice, but keep in touch. I am descended from Robert Fowler (c1757 - 1848), probably a farmer, of Cudworth, Somerset, England, and later Abbotsbury, Dorset, England. I would like to hear from any distant Fowler cousin descended from Robert. I would be delighted for any ancestral information above and beyond Robert. Briefly, my Fowler tree is as follows: 1. My ancestors, Robert Fowler of Cricket St. Thomas, Somerset, Englans, and Mary Phelps of Shepton Beauchamp, Somerset, England, were married on April 2nd., 1781 in Cricket St. Thomas, Somerset. They had the following children baptized in Cudworth, Somerset, England: Unice (1782), Robert (1784), Mary (1785) and my ancestor Joseph (1787). 2. Joseph Fowler (1787 - 1855) married Mary Gapper on July 30th., 1816 in Winsham, Somerset, England. They lived in Abbotsbury and Winterborne Whitechurch, both in Dorset, England. Joseph was a farmer. They had the following children: my ancestor Mary Gapper Fowler (1818), Joseph Francis Fowler (c1820), Robert Fowler (1824) and Amelia Honor Gapper Fowler (1829). 3. Mary Gapper Fowler (1818 - 1865) married Joel Roper on April 21st., 1840 in Winterborne Whitechurch, Dorset, England. Joel was a yeoman farmer. They lived in Mappercombe, Milton Abbas and Winterborne Clenston, all of them in Dorset, England. They had the following children: Mary Fowler Roper (1841), John Roper (1842), Joseph Fowler Roper (1844), William Robert Roper (1846) and William Norris Roper (1849). I am descended from Joseph Fowler Roper (1844 - 1906) of Dorset and Wiltshire in England. I suspect a Fowler connection with Thorncombe for my ancestral family, but cannot prove it yet. Happy searching! Best wishes.
