    3. John, That is my Fowler line and I have lots of information about Robert's son John and his descendents. Andrew Jackson married Holly Smith and Green married Aley/Alsa, I believe she was also a Fowler, but I don't know who her parents were. My information shows that the wife of John who came to Anson County, is unknown. He had 2 sons and 1 daughter according to Grover Parsons Fowler who wrote the book, "The House of Fowler". But that Robert married a Miss Winchester. I have no information about David, the son of John, but lots about Robert's line. Robert's son John married Betsy (Elizabeth) House and their children were: Robert W. 3. Hello to the list! I have posted a few times and read all messages religiously. I am impressed by the work some of you have done and posted for the rest of us to check out. Want to hear my "tale of woe"? I have no record of my GGreat Grandfather Fowler, no given name, no date of birth, only information on census records that he was born in NY. There was a Bible once, but it went where "all those good old family Bibles' go" at some point in time. I have made an educated guess that he was probably born in 1801 to 1810, most likely had the first name of George, and was in Willoughby, Lake Co, Ohio in 1842, when his son, Ezra, was born. Yes, I have checked the census records for 1840, 1850, and 1860 in Ohio. Nothing that will work even in my imagination. I believe there are more George Fowlers' in that birthdate range than John Smiths' and I have ardently pursued most of them until I totally disproved their relationship to our family. I know even less info about my GGreat Grandmother Fowler, no given name, no maiden name, no date of birth, only information on census records that she was "born at sea" coming to America from Scotland. I have made an educated guess that she was probably born in abt. 1810 to 1820, based on the year of Ezra's birth. I have checked so many Scottish families for similarities in circumstances or areas that I am impressed with the richness of the Scottish influence in the settling of America, but I have not found anything that I can nail down as mine. I found Great Grandfather Ezra Lonzo Fowler enlisting for the Civil War from Painesville, Ohio. in the 105th Ohio, which was formed at Ashtabula, Ohio. I have Ezra tracked and documented (1870, 1880, 1900, 1920) until his death in Wichita, KS in 1927. I have checked more Fowlers' of that time frame than the name "George". I researched any Fowler of those areas and time frames that had names that were used in Ezra's family. (Edward, David, Albert, Andrew, Charles, Robert, and William, and daughter Mamie). That is my story and I am stuck with it! Darline Fowler Smith

    3. One always seems to get into trouble when this is done, so please understand that the following is offered in a very undogmatic fashion. Based on the records I have (based on Wharton Dickinson who has not always been right - I understand that Christine Cecilia Fowler has corrected some of his errors, but I have not seen her work), the following Henry (whose children parallel the post by Wayne) is not the son of Henry and Rebecca, but rather the son of William and Mary of Flushing, NY. These lines are very confusing because there are two Williams in Flushing - sometimes three. One is the son of Joseph Fowler who immigrated with his brother Richard to Rhode Island about 1650. The other is the son of Henry and Rebecca. The latter's son Henry married Abigail Hoyt and had: Joseph, Henry, Gilbert, Sarah, Jane, Mary, and Ann. Will dated July 2, 1734. I share this information simply to show that there are differences of opinion on the matter. Even though there are wills in some cases, the common names used by all the Fowlers and their common residences suggests some caution. I would also point out that the Dusenburys and Fowlers have several connections. Jeremiah married Sarah Dusenbury; brother Benjamin married Hannah Dusenbury; sister Mary married Henry Dusenbury - all children of William and Mary. WILLIAM FOWLER is said to have settled in Flushing about 1680. On March 15, 1687, Nicholas Parcel, his wife's grandfather, conveyed to him 1/2 of Duck Creek meadow, lying between Flushing and Newtown (Book A, p. 43); Oct.11, 1688, his brother-in-law, Henry Taylor (husband of sister Sarah), conveyed to him 50 acres at Great Cove (Book B, No. I, p. 151); and Jan. 5, 1689, 10 acres more at Great Cove (Book B, No.1, p. 153). In the tax list of Flushing, 1698, we find William Fowler and wife Mary, sons William, John, Joseph, Benjamin, daughters Mary and Rebecca, negro boy Jack. Mr. Fowler m. Jan. 24, 1680, Mary, daughter of John and Mary (Parcel) Thorne; she and daughter Mary, bap. by Rev. Thomas Poyer, 29 Feb. 1711. WILLIAM d. in May 1714; buried May 2 (N. Y. 2. Hello Carlene, I just read your messge board on the Fowlers. I have a little bit of info to pass to you. According to my records, Henry Fowler married Rebecca Newell and had the following children: Rebecca abt 1656 Henry abt 1658 William abt 1660 John abt 1663 mary abt 1668 Newell abt 1668 Grace abt 1670 Jerimia abt 1673 Sara abt 1673 HENRY married Abigail and had the following: Henry 1679 Abigail 1681 Rebecca MOSES 1684 William 1687 John 1689 Susana 1690 Elanor 1695 Edmund 1698 Mary 1681 Moses married Sarah Archer My interest in that line stopped there! I am interested in the FOWLERS from several of Henry's line because they married into several of the other families that I have in my extended tree. I am stumped on one Fowler! ELIZABETH FOWLER (died in Putnam Valley, NY) married Moses Dusenbery (born abt 1710, Hempstead, LI, NY and died in Brunswick NY around 1810.) They had a son Moses (born in 1750, Putnam Valley, NY abt 1750). Moses married in Fishkill and then lived the rest of his life in Brunswick. If you have any info on that Elizabeth please let me know! best regards, wayne

But if you like I might be able to find Humphrey's grave and take some pictures of the grave and scan them into the computer and send them to you. But it will have to wait until the end of the month because I have to get a new camera. Just let me know offlist if you would like me to do this. Judi in Tacoma WA USA a former Edmontonian. 1. [FOWLER] DNA testing
    2. I can't find where anyone has brought this subject before the group, but if they have, I apologize up front for repeating. I am planning to have my oldest living male Fowler relative DNA tested. I have found from working with my Kinkead research that the KINCAID-L researchers have a very well organized project up and running and in the process they get a group rate on the testing which is a considerable savings. They are using familytreedna.com and the 25-marker test. I would like to encourage anyone who might be interested to have a male Fowler tested, especially if you have known lines that go back to Europe or other countries. Once they have several tests and the lines start matching up, you can tell which lines have common relatives and narrow down your research considerably. As I understand it, it doesn't do the work for us, just narrows down the search area. The website can explain this a lot better than I can. We can all be individually tested and the results will be kept at the FamilyTreeDNA site for 25 years, but it would be better if we had a project coordinator just for Fowlers. I am not in a position to take on the position of project coordinator, but would encourage anyone who might want to to do this. According to the FamilyTreeDNA site, no Fowlers have participated in this study yet. The site provides information and pricing on the test and how to set up a group project. 3. Judy, I don't expect there is a connection but I have a great grandfather Jasper Percival Fowler, who was born in Leith, Scotland in 1857. He came to Victoria, BC on HMS Triumph in 1879. Jasper left the Royal Navy and took a position with Robert Dunsmuir as his master mechanic on the Esquimalt and Naniamo Railway. He married Elizabeth Phipps and they had four children, 2 of which died in infancy. The son Humphrey Arthur Fowler moved to Tacoma to apprentice as a pharmacist. I had heard anecdotal information that for many years there was a Fowler Pharmacy in Tacoma but I have no hard facts. I just thought I would ask if you knew of such an establishment in Tacoma. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judith McRae" <free2bejudi@yahoo.com> To: <FOWLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2004 6:48 AM Subject: [FOWLER] Fowlers from England > Since this mailing list has become active again I > would like to inquire if anyone has connections to the > Fowlers in and around Buckinghamshire and Bedford > England. > > My Great Grandfather George STIMSON b. abt. 1852 in > Old Bradwell, Buckinghamshire, England; married an > Elizabeth FOWLER in Heath and Reach, Bedford, England > on December 26, 1873.
