It is possible that the one date is the date it was written and the second date could be the date it was proved.... Welcome to Sharon, thanks for monitoring this site. Am posting my Fowler's in hopes of gathering a new connection. John Fowler b 1740 Scotland, d after 1785, Syracuse NY. He married Ann Elize Keith. From his service in the Revolution, DAR papers "Resided in Albany co. He served as private in Capt. Benjamin Aylsworth's Co., Col. Jacobus Van schoonhoven's Regiment, Algany co., NY Militia" John and Eliza had 2 sons (that I am aware of) 1. William Fowler, an architect, went on to CA. has many descendents, also linked to the Harlan family. They were in CA. before it became a state, his son received a Mexican Land Grant. 2. John Fowler (my line) b 1782 Ny..died 1860, South Bend In. He married Elizabeth Howey 1815, dau. of Thomas Howey and Lodema Harris. I researched "many" John Fowler's in NY. With so many of the same name, has been rather frustrating to locate anything definitive. It's my understanding that some of this line...perhaps William's were prominent in politics, in the East. Have not been able to connect that either. Grateful for any help. Viola in CA
Hi, I am still trying to find anything....something....on Alexander Fowler of Geneva, NY. He married Jane Smith from Tuckahoe, NJ and their daughter, Isabelle, was my great grandmother. Isabelle was born in 1856 inGeneva, NY. I have no other information on her parents. If these names are familiar to anybody, I would be interested in hearing from you. Thank you Rhoda Turner LostMtRose@aol.com
Fowler is my deadest dead end. Here is what I know about my William Alexander Fowler. It was thought that William Alexander Fowler came from Indiana. He didn't talk much about his past and even his wife, Cora, knew very little. A hand written notation among his daughter, Vida's, papers says "William Alexander Fowler was full Irish". He had a small gold plate in the back of his head to cover damaged caused by a railroad pin injury while he was working as a brakeman on the railroad. He loved to hunt and fish and could play any kind of instrument. He could also throw his voice and was a carpenter. He married in AR at the age of 35. (Cora was 23) They had 8 children - 5 girls and 3 boys. William died in MO in 1928 at the age of 64. He might have one sister who was older than William. If this is proven - her name was Florence Fowler and she married J. Reavis. On the 1900 census - William listed both of his parents as being born in Ireland. He listed himself as day laborer. He listed his birth place as Iowa. On the 1910 his is listed as Alexander Fowler born in MO - 1920 it is A. Fowler - born MO. In each case he lists parent born in Ireland. I don't have enough information to pin-point him on the 1880 or 1870 census. I have his death certificate and Cora listed his birth place as MO - parents names unknown. I also have his obit. It is brief and doesn't mention his parents or siblings. Someone has posted parents for him on a couple of the national lists that does not check out. Any help would be appreciated. DonnaL@cox.net
