    1. Alexander Fowler (c1726-a 1790)
    2. Mary-Gene Page
    3. Alexander Fowler is my earliest known ancestor. Family tradition says he was descended from "A Fowler of England, who was a silk weaver and merchant" and "a daughter of the noble Douglas family of Stirling Castle, Scotland". She died young and Alexander came to America at age of 19. He had many half brothers and sisters. He may have been the Lt. Alexander Fowler of the "King's Foot" of the colony of Virginia during the French and Indian Wars, but Carol S. says he is NOT our Alex because the Lt. married a Sarah Smith and died Pittsburgh PA. I have several possible names for a wife of Alexander: (1) Carter (2) Polly N/Howell (3) Sarah Bugg. I have two "circa" birthdates for Alexander Sr: 1719 and 1726. c1754 was the marriage to Sarah Bugg (1725- ) at St Peters Parish, New Kent Co, VA. 20 Aug 1755 son Alexander Fowler Jr (1755-1821), Goochland Co, VA [House of Fowler] 1757 dtr Martha Fowler, Goochland Co, VA 01 Jan 1759 Sherwood Fowler (1759-1837) Goochland Co, VA 1761 son Edmund Fowler, Goochland 1763 dtr Prudence Fowler, Goochland ? Death, Goochland Co, VA - on the homestead, probably 1790 Census: First Census of US, Mecklenburg Co, VA; List of Sm. Davis, Alexander Fowler 9, Samuel Bugg 1. A message from Jean Bates cites "Phillips' Great Index of Biographical Reference" which says Alex Jr lived in Goochland Co on the homeplace. She asks about some judgement vs Alexander Sr. by Thomas Pleasants in Goochland Co. My line is through Sherwood Fowler who married Mary "Polly" Wingo.

    2. Ada Orand
    3. I am looking for info on James B FOWLER, born 1807, Spartanburg SC , He married Ann Birdwell, 1832 in AL and was in TX about 1847-48. Some think he is possibly a son of Robert Fowler & Mary Tennel, but a close scrutiny of the Chancery Court records of Franklin & Coffee Counties, TN, May 11, 1842 indicates that "Your petitioner prays that proper ___? may ___? against the widow and all the below named heirs, all of whom ar defendants hereto, that the said Ferman Fowler, R F Fowler, Thomas Copeland and wife (Permelia) are not inhabitants of this state, but all the other defendants are citizens of said county of Franklin-----". Any help out there?? Thanks. Ada

Its really heart warming to see so many people writing in with their research and helping others. Lets keep it going. For those of you who have relatives in England and/or Wales in 1901 have any of you tried the 1901 England and Wales census decoder? It is free and is available from _www.censusdecoder.com_ (http://www.censusdecoder.com) I have it and it is very useful. It gives you all the info except the piece and folia numbers.
