Presley, Helms, Polk, Trull to name a few in their ancestry. She is my 3rd great grandmother. Have you any knowledge of these people? --part1_f08c6511.2497f012_boundary--
I am searching for the father of Jesse Fowler born @ 1810 in N.C. or GA. He settled in Marion Co., Ga, by 1850. His wife was Henrietta Gilly (Gilley? was her married, not maiden name). I believe that Jesse Fowler was the son of George Fowler of Jefferson County, GA. A Jesse Fowler is mentioned in George Fowler's will. Can anyone help?
I am new to the Fowler list, but not to genealogy. After reviewing some of the marriage records in Trigg Co., KY, it looks like my 3Ggrandfather William LESTER was married into the FOWLERs and I would like to know if others are researching these FOWLERs. Trigg Co., KY Marriage Bond Book 1 indicates that a bond was issued in name of William LESTER to marry a Martha FOWLER in August of 1823. Another record gives a bond for William LESTER to a Jane FOWLER in March of 1840. These FOWLER women may be related to a Joshua and Isaac FOWLER, see below. Here is the 1850 census record for my 3Ggrandfather William LESTER: 1850 - Schedule I. Free Inhabitants of 1st District of Trigg Co., KY, 10 Sept 1850, back of page 316 (US Federal Census of 1850) beginning on line 38: Lester William 49 1200 Farmer - Jane 38 - William 17 <--my 2Ggrandfather - James 14 - Samuel 13 - John 9 - Joseph 8 - Enos 6 - Armstead 2/12 - Denisa 21 - Matilda 19 - Martha 5 - Lizetta 2 The elder William LESTER and wife Jane were in KY as late as 1870: Schedule I. Inhabitants of Wallonia Precinct, Trigg Co., Post Office: Cadiz, KY, 30 Sept 1870 page 174 (back) 381 381: William Lester 69, Farmer $2800 $1000 KY Jane - 60, keeping house KY Armstead - 19 farmer KY I am currently of the opinion that Jane LESTER in the 1850 & 1870 census above was Jane FOWLER. There is a gap in the ages of the children so a previous wife for William LESTER is certainly possible, possibly Martha FOWLER. The General Index to Deeds of Trigg Co., KY indicates several transactions between William LESTER and a Joshua FOWLER (1856) and an Isaac FOWLER (1855). These were powers of attorney from FOWLERs to Wm. LESTER. I have not yet reviewed the actual deed records, only the index. My 2Ggrandfather William LESTER left KY and was married in Hunt Co., TX in March of 1870, and into the ARNOLD family. 1870 - Schedule I. Inhabitants of Precinct No. 4, Hunt, Co., TX, 14 Sept 1870, page 402, beginning on line 4: 4 389 377 Lester, Wm. 37 M W Farmer $400 $400 KY - Mary E. 19 F W keeping house GA <--ARNOLD John 30 M W Farmer KY This Wm. LESTER lived in the north Texas area until 1884 when he moved his family to Lampasas Co., TX (central TX) near the small town of Evant, TX which is situated in Coryell Co., TX. I would like to correspond with other FOWLER researchers with Trigg Co., KY and north TX connections in the time period mentioned above. Let me hear from you, Jim Sims Fort Worth, TX [email protected]
The word is actually "Relict" and was probably just misspelled. Best regards. Nancy. How about "RELIC"? I found that term on tomb sstones in New England, and found it meant surviving spouse. (wife) Somehow, I would not like to be a relic, although the alternative might be worse!
