    3. Specifically seeking information on the ancestors and descendents of Mary Catherine FOWLER, b. ca. 1836 in SC, and Cumberland Clabo (C. C.) REYNOLDS, b. ca. 1833 in GA. Mary C. Reynolds, nee FOWLER , and C. C. Reynolds are enumerated in the 1850 Putnam Co GA Census in the household of J. C. FOWLER and his wife Nancy FOWLER , presumed parents of Mary C. Reynolds. C. C. Reynolds, Private, Co. C, 16th Georgia Cavalry, was a POW and died at Rock Island Prison, Illinois, on 20 Mar 1864 and is buried in grave # 881 in the Confederate Cemetery. On 02 May 1864, the 16th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry was increased to ten companies and constituted the 13th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry. As a result, C. C. Reynolds is sometimes included on the roster of Co C, 13th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry even though he was deceased before the 13th was created. His widow, Mary C. Reynolds, filed for a pension as a resident of Clarke Co GA. Her pension was later transferred to Oconee Co GA and then to Banks Co GA. Mary Reynolds, nee FOWLER, is enumerated as the head of household #480 in the 1870 Clarke Co GA Census. In her household were: twin girls aged 17-one of whom was named Josephine; Mary Ellen, 13; William, 11; Jasper (?), 9; and Walter, 2. William, aged 11 in the 1870 Census, was William Nixon Reynolds, b. 02 Jan 1859, in Jasper Co GA. He married Rosena Victoria CONNELL before 1879, probably in Clarke Co GA. Rosena Victoria Connell’s parents are buried in a 3-Grave Cemetery on property now owned by the University of GA in Athens, Clarke Co GA. The names and dates on the headstones are: a.. Elizabeth Connell/ Wife of G. J. Connell/ Born September 5, 1826/ Died June 7, 1888. (Mother of Rosena Victoria Connell.) b.. Green J. Connell/ Born May 10, 1830/ Died May 4, 1901/ Aged 70 years 11 months 25 days. (Father of Rosena Victoria Connell.) c.. Mrs. Charlotte CAUDLE/ Born May 17th 1788/ Died August 24, 1866. (Presumed mother of Elizabeth Connell but there is no proof of this relationship.) William Nixon Reynolds (1859-1904) m. 1st Rosena Victoria Connell (1860-1901). They are both buried in the cemetery of Princeton United Methodist Church, near Athens, Clarke Co GA. William Nixon Reynolds m. 2nd, Myrtle Clarene Rice (1882-1969). Myrtle Rice Reynolds m. 2nd Walter S. Mealor, Jr.; m. 3rd Thomas King. The children of William Nixon Reynolds and Rosena Victoria Connell were: 1.. Ira Alen Reynolds (1879-1938), m. Alma E. Grantham, 1899 (?). 2.. Roger Nixon Reynolds (1882-1969), m. Sidney Gladys Baxter, 1914. 3.. Frederick Jackson Reynolds (1884-after 1982) m. Anna Kellogg, 1912. 4.. Henry Linton Reynolds (1886-1977), m. Leavie Wallace, 1912. 5.. Nina Elizabeth Reynolds (1888-after 1982), m. Marcus Sylvester Thurman, 1912. 6.. Mary Gertrude Reynolds (1891-1921), m. Wade Hampton Sims, 1909., buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, East Newnan, Coweta Co GA. 7.. William Cumberland Reynolds (1893-after 1982), m. Margaret Claridy, 1924. 8.. Emily Victoria Reynolds (1897-1928), m. John N. Slay, 1916. Child of William Nixon Reynolds and Myrtle Clarene Rice was: Sabra Reynolds (1903-after 1982) Please note that Lillian Henderson (1964) in her Roster of Confederate Soldiers of GA, Vol IV (p. 748) has a C. C. Reynolds who was in the 44th Regiment GA Infantry and who died at Fort Delaware Prison, Delaware. I can find no other reference to a C. C. Reynolds who was in the 44th Regiment, Georgia Infantry, nor can I find any documentation of a C. C. Reynolds who died at Fort Delaware Prison. Therefore, I assume that Lillian Henderson was mistaken, but in the event that she was not mistaken, I would be very interested any documentation this C. C. Reynolds. If there were such a C. C. Reynolds, he would have enlisted in the 44th GA Infantry in Jasper Co GA. Any additional information or collaboration on these particular REYNOLDS, CONNELL, FOWLER or CAUDLE families would be much appreciated. Franklin, Raleigh, NC [email protected]

    3. Could anyone be kind enough to let me know if there is a website out there where you can match up bride and groom to get a genealogy outlook of the family? About what family search has, I think it's easier to match a family up if you have both parents. LDS (so I just found out) is all messed up. 1. [FOWLER-L] Stephen C. Fowler, b. NY 1813; Jonathan b. 1838 NY
    2. Hi, I am searching for the family of Stephen C. Fowler. He was born in NY approx 1813. I have found him in the 1840 Census for Armstrong County, Pa: Stephen C. Fowler 1 male under 5 1 male 20 and under 30 1 female under 5 1 female 20 and under 30 occupation: manufacture and trade I also found him in the 1850 census for Eldred Township, Jefferson County: Stephen C. Fowler age 37 born in NY Lavinia age 22 born in PA Mary I. age 4 born in PA Jonathan W. age 12 born in Pa There are a couple of question that these two census records raise. 1. What happened to his wife? If there was a female age 20 and under 30 in 1840, Lavinia in 1850 at age 22 was too young to be his wife and be the mother of a 12 year old son, unless the census taker wrote her age wrong. Or was she a second wife, if so what happened to the first wife? 2. What happened to the first daughter? If there was a female under 5 in 1840, Lavinia would be too old to be the same female. 3. I know that my ancestor, Jonathan W. Fowler was born in 1839 [date of birth on his tombstone], so the age 12 in 1850 is close to the right age. He could also be the male under 5 in 1840 Census. Does any of this make sense to anyone?? I ran out of time at the library to look up the 1860 census to see where Stephen was and who was with him. I do know from the index that Jonathan was on his own, the index list Jonathan Fowler, Jefferson Co. Heath Township pg 271 and Stephen Fowler, Jefferson County, Eldred Township pg. 120. If anyone has access to these records and could look them up for me, I would greatly appreciate it. I only had a couple of hours at the library in Clarion County, where I was able to look at the Jefferson County Census records. My hometown doesn't have these records (I live in Bedford County, PA) If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Jonathan married Catherine Dunkle, b. 1864 in Sigel, PA; on May 12, 1885 in Brookville, Jefferson County, PA. She died 12-12-1894, age 31. Jonathan died 1916. They are buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, just east of Sigel, PA. The 1900 census for Jefferson County, Eldred Township shows this for Jonathan: Jonathan W. Fowler b. 5-1838 widow Adam Fowler b. 11-1886 son Elsie* Fowler b. 11-1883 daughter Maggie E. Fowler b. 1-1889 daughter [my great grandmother] Mary C. Fowler b. 10-1891 daughter. * the name is very hard to read, may be either of these or maybe something else. I do know that Maggie's middle name was Ellen, so it can't be Ellen, or maybe it was. Who knows? Thanks for taking time to read this and for any answers anyone can come up with. Sue

    3. Hi. Don't know HOW all these folks connect yet, but my MCVOY/MCEVOY family had a branch that were in RI for some reason in the late 1700's or early 1800's and went to MOBILE,AL in the mid 1800's. They were cousins to my great grandpa Martin McVoy, b.1841 in PENSACOLA FL. Somehow around 1860 or so, Martin McVoy,Sr. went to Calvert Co MD where he ended up fighting for the union in the Civil War. But he married ELIZA JANE COCHRANE,b.1861 & d.1831 and they lived out their lives in CALVERT CO MD. But ELIZA JANE'S mom was ELIZA JANE FOWLER and she was born around 1825 approx and married WM.H.COCHRANE (COCHRAN/COCKRAN/CORCORAN?) of IRE ca. 1840's. I am curious if the FOWLERS in the Southern Part of Calvert Co MD were from New England (RI?)and perhaps that is where MARTIN met the family????? Just not sure, but a possibility. Do you have any MCVOY/MCEVOY/MCAVOY or WHEELERS or MURPHY'S in your FOWLER line???? Thanks! 3. Are there any Fowler descendants out there whose ancestors were born in RI in the 1700s who came to NY abt. 1790? I've been tracking several families from RI who settled in Albany Co, NY (name later changed to Washington Co.). They lived in close proximity in White Creek for many years. I believe my g-g-g-grandfather, Abel, is related to this group. He was born abt. 1781 in RI and was in Genessee Co. (became Monroe Co.) by abt. 1816 (per the 1855 state census). His first wife was Mary Eddy (b. VT) whom he married abt. 1808 in Herkimer Co. NY. Are there any cousins out there who would like to share information? I am shortly going to upload a listing of a private burying ground in Washington Co. that I transcribed from a DAR volume. Hope this will help someone. Judy in FL
