His great-grandfather was Samuel (and Laura Sills) Foust born 1868-1869 in Wells County, Indiana. We believe Samuel was the son of Jacob (and Ruth) Foust born about 1824 in (probably Morrow County) Ohio and one of 11 children. Jacob Foust's mother was Mary Foust widowed before 1850. Jacob appears in the 1850 census for Cardington, Morrow County, Ohio at age 26 living with his mother Mary and two sisters Christina and Emily on the family farm. We have no idea who Jacob's father was other than that he and Mary were born in Pennsylvania. Censuses before 1850 show only the name of the head of household so there's no way to trace this family by census prior to 1850. Any information you may have would be appreciated.
