Foust, 84, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014. James was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio, (Mahoning County) a son of John C. and Mary K. (Mazur) Foust. He married the former Therese Slocik on Nov. 22, 1952. After graduating from Canfield High School in 1948, James joined the U.S. Navy in June of that year. He served from 1948 until 1950, and was a Korean War veteran. He was employed by the Mahoning County Sanitary Engineers for nearly 20 years as plant supervisor at the Lake Milton facility. He enjoyed playing the guitar in his retirement years. He enjoyed puzzles, and building models of the Corsair airplanes, which he worked on while in the Navy. He also enjoyed cars, and bowling in past years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. James was formerly a member of American Legion Post 565 of Boardman, Ohio. He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, James (Cathy) of Perrysburg, OH; daughter Patti (Larry) Trask of Dorset; grandchildren Jamie Groves and Brittany Trask; and sisters Kathleen, Anna Marie, and Genevieve. James was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, John Foust. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in James' name to the Boardman, Ohio Library. According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio has been entrusted with the arrangements.
