I believe he went by Wesley. He was originally from Wayne Co., Kentucky. He married Nettie J. Dabney and moved out on Rattle Snake Ridge in McCreary Co., Kentucky. Wesley's dad was John Foust (14 Nov 1848 to 01 Jan 1916) and his mom was Rebecca Foster (1862 to 28 Aug 1919). Unfortunately, when my grandpa was 8 years old, Wesley abandoned the family. Grandpa believes he is buried in Harlan Co., Kentucky. Wesley's siblings include: James Elbert Foust (23 Feb 1892 to 23 Mar 1922) William Harrison Foust Robert L. Foust Marion E. Foust (6 Aug 1890 to May of 1963) Mollie Drucilla Foust (26 Dec 1881 to 18 Jun 1942) Minda F. Foust (5 Sep 1895 to 11 Dec 1928) James, Mollie and Minda are buried in Chitwood Cemetery in Whitley City, Kentucky (McCreary Co.) If anyone has info on Wesley, in particular an obituary record or where he might be buried, it would be greatly appreciated! Author: Bailey_Francis Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.foust/782.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have to amend my previous post about the parents of Minnie Cora FOUST. There are only 2 Minnie FOUST names in Ancestry.com's 1920 census index for Anderson County, TN. One is in Civil District 3 and the other is in Civil Distriet 5. There are 6 census sheet pages in Civil District 2 for Anderson County that were imaged by Ancestry.com. There is only one FOUST family with children in the household, and there is no Minnie. 1. Pleasant "Pleas" FOUST, 1875-1931, and Florence Alice ALLEY, 1878-1938, had a daughter named Minnie Mae, b. 11 Nov 1914, who married Caleb POWERS. Marriage below: Tennessee State Marriages, 1780-2002 about Caleb Powers Name: Caleb Powers Spouse: Minnie Forest (probable transcription error of Foust) Marriage Date: 20 Mar 1933 Marriage County: Anderson 2. Frelinghuysen Hyacinth "Hise" FOUST, 1874-1950, and Naomi Ann "Lillian" RHEA, 1875-1923, had a daughter named Minnie Alyce, born 1918. There is a marriage in "Tennessee Marriages 1780-2002" of Arthur Eugene CATES, Jr. and Minnie Alyce FOUST 10 Sep 1940 in Union County, TN. In the 1930 census, both Minnie FOUSTs shown above are in their parents' household. There is no other Minnie FOUST in the census index. There are 18 census sheet pages in Civil District 2. There is no Minnie FOUST. So, I cannot determine who were the parents of Minnie Cora FOUST with the information available to me. I suggest that you get a copy of the Harlan County, KY, death certificate of Minnie DEAN to see if the informant gave the names of her parents and proceed from there. Please post the information from the death certificate on this message board. Bailey Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: GaryCowan44 Surnames: Faust Foust Cowan Cowen Wells Garrett Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.foust/780/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for info on Peter Faust/Foust who married Jane Cowan/Cowen 26 April 1838 in Marshall County, Alabama. She remarried to Thomas C. Wells, Jr. on 22 August 1846 in the same county. I have presumed Peter Faust must have died in the interim. In the 1850 census of Marshall Co AL, Jane Cowan Faust Wells is seen with a son James W. Faust as well as a couple of children by Thomas Wells. Jane Cowan was a daughter of James Cowan and Frances Garrett, who were from Laurens Co. SC and came to the area of Big Spring Valley southeast of Guntersville, AL about 1835. This was near the border of Marshall and Blount County. One of Jane's brothers, David Cowan, settled in Brown's Valley which was across the line in Blount County. I have wondered if Peter Faust/Foust was a son of the Reverend Peter Faust known to be in the Blount County area by 1830, but I have not seen him in a list of his children. Can anyone tell me anything about my Peter Faust, or his son James Faust? Gary Cowan Fort Worth, Texas Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It was in perfect condition, thanks to you. I am so very pleased to have it and can not thank you enough for making sure it ended up with family. Your kindness is very much appreciated. Susanna (my great grandma) was 20 in the picture & died at age 30. In her short life, she had 4 children, (Ray was my grandfather). My Mom is looking forward to seeing the picture and also wanted me to thank you for returning it to us. She said "if Grandma did it there would be an address label on the back" and sure enough, it was there. The writing on the back was my Grandma's (Ray's wife)too. My grandparents are not alive anymore so I hope you know how special this is to have in my possession. It is an amazing find to add to my genealogy records I am working on. Forever grateful to you.
