I do know that Hiram's son Daniel Hiram died before he was 30. Hiram had congestive heart disease according to his Civil War pension. My question for you is: Does your Reynolds line have cholesterol and heart disease problems? My husband's line does all the way down to the youngest generation. A cousin's daughter had a stroke this past year at 25. An uncle died at 45. The rest of the brothers had problems by their early 50's. Do you need info from me? I am still confused about whether the info on have on the Fousts and Talbert is correct or not. I have George Foust as father of Susannah. George's married Mary Molly Buck. George's father was John. Someone wrote to me: The following is from Dr. Faust's book "FAUST -FOUST FAMILY In Germany & America" published by Gateway and is available from Mary Faust, his widow. Pages F61, F62, and F63. "A John Faust moved to Lycoming Co., Pa. In 1807 according to a deed in which he bought land in Muncie Creek Township. According to the Lycoming County History the original Faust was a John Faust, Revoluntionary War veteran. No other Faust seems to fit the description except John Faust (1756-1854). There was only one Faust family to ever live in Lycoming in the 1800's. The History further states that as of the 1800's 3 grandsons still lived in the area: John, Jacob, and Daniel/ There is still not definite proof that this Lycoming family is from John(1756-1854), but no other connections seem possible. Furthermore, Lycoming County is adjacent to Columbia and Montour Counties where John (1756-1854) is known to have lived. "The known members of this Faust start with a John Faust who married Mary Buck. He administered his mother-in-law's estate in 1828. John did not leave a will, but two deeds which settle his estate do name the children. The children were John, Catherine, Mary, Margaret, Susannah, and George. The family of George Faust still live in the area. There is a Faust Department Store in Muncie. Below is the family of this John Faust. JOHN FAUST - b. 1816; m. Mary Molly Buck; was carpenter in Muncie Creek Township, Lycoming Co. Known issue: GEORGE W. FAUST - b. 1842. MARGARET FAUST - b. 1844. HENRY FAUST - b. 1848. LEWIS FAUST - b. 1849. Your Susannah Foust was married to Hyman/Hirman Reynolds. They would be my great-grandparents on my father's side (I think). My grandfather was also a Hyman Edward Reynolds of Muncy, PA married to Cora LaDorna Dimm. They had 8 sons, Lawrence Raymond Reynolds, Theodore Roosevelt Reynolds, Harley Hansom Reynolds, Roscoe Leroy Reynolds, John Dimm Reynolds, my father: Paul Edgar Reynolds, Edward Truckenmiller Reynolds, and Hyman Frederick Reynolds. All the sons are deceased - My Uncle Ed's wife - Dorothy Fae Reynolds is still living in Muncy. I have more info if you are interested - family bible mainly. I would be anxious to hear what you may have that would help me. I hit a stalemate with the Talbert/Foust info long ago. My great grandmother, Mellie Foust, was born in 1897. I haven't been able to find out much else about her so far. I know that she married my great grandfather, William B. "Willie" Mathis in McNairy Co., TN and that's about as far as I've gotten. I am still searching for her parents' names...can't seem to locate any census data or anything. If you get any hits, please let me know and I will do the same for you. Thanks, Jennifer Mathis Lahti Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.foust/428.3.1.2.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks Lee. I'll be in touch by email, probably tomorrow. You've made my friend very happy just to get him back to Jacob Foust, his great-great-grandfather. We had traced Jacob's son Samuel Foust back to Wells County, Indiana previously and knew the family came from Ohio and before that from PA. Samuel was born there in 1868, married there in 1891 and he shows up in the census there from 1900 to 1930. To go a little further back to Pennsylvania, let alone back to Germany is more than we both had hoped for. He's not very computer literate by the way and I had had some experience tracing my families online, so that's how I came to get involved in this. I'll keep him posted on what we come up with and he may want to contact you directly at some point. Thanks

There's lots of useful info here, but it's not all trustworthy. If it's a marriage file or a church record, they are OK. Go to this site: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true Type FOUST into the Last Name box. Select North America for the region. Into the Batch Number box type M514479. Hit Search. If you leave the Last Name box empty, you'll get the whole file. It's a bona-fide marriage index for Highland County. The batch numbers for church records begin with the letter C.

Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.foust/428.3.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Go to the LDS IGI files. Search Batch #M514479 for FOUST. Your Jacob will descend from either Daniel or Jonathan. They were the only two married before 1825. Some researchers say they both descend from Jacob Faust and Maria Catharina Leiby (or Lieby) from Berks County. If that's true, this line descends from the Ravolzhausen Fausts. I've never researched those folks; I descend from the Fausts from Langenselbold - a nearby village. Thus, I suspect the two clans had a common ancestry, but that's just my suspicion. Now, if you search the Highland County genealogy site, you'll discover that two Jacob Fousts signed a petition in 1825. To me, that sort of implies Jacob Sr (the one born in 1773) moved west, too. In fact, the petition says Jacob Sr. Also, the 1820 Delaware County census shows two Jacobs (and lots of other Fousts). After some four hours of searching, I've concluded there's a lot of misinformation posted on the internet concerning this family. Somebody has a lot of work ahead of them to straighten out the mess, but I am willing to help. I have a few good contacts back there at the source. It would probably be best if you and/or your friend would contact me directly after this.

Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.foust/428.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Let's start from scratch. According to the LDS files, Jacob Foust married Ruth Wilson about 1848 in Highland County, Ohio. Now, if you go back to the 1850 census for Highland County, you'll find a large Foust family with the parents born in PA: Daniel (abt. 1801) and Frances (abt. 1803). You'll also find an Adam Wilson family with the parents born in North Carolina. Next, check the 1840 census for Highland County; Daniel had an older son who doesn't show in the 1850 census. At least I can't find him. Anyhow, miraculously, both your 1825 Jacob and (I think) his father Daniel are living in 1860 Wells County IN. Although I was born in PA, I have or had lots of cousins in Wells County, but I don't think the Fousts are among them. Thus far I haven't been able to identify a Daniel Faust/Foust born about 1801/1802. I'll keep trying, though.

We have them back as far as Samuel Foust born about 1868 in Indiana, married Laura Sills 1891 in Indiana. We believe Samuel Foust's parents were Jacob Foust born 1825-1830 in Ohio, married Ruth Wilson. Our brick wall right now is finding that Jacob's parents. We think we found him in Morrow County, OH in 1850 living with his mother Mary (and you say that he was age 20 at that time not 26 ?). Can you shed any light on who this Jacob's parents might have been ?
