He had 5 children (1st 4 born in Tyrone, Ireland) with Catherine McLane were: 1. Hugh (1837 - 20 Dec 1902) 2. Sarah (1841 - ?) 3. George (1844 - 09 Aug 1874) 4. James (1846 - 16 Oct 1891) (my 2nd great grandfather) 5. John (30 Sep 1851 - 28 Jul 1937) James Forsythe married Mary Burke. I could only find 9 children: 1. Francis Joseph (04 Jul 1867 - after 1910) 2. Mary (1869 - 1870) died at 10 months of age 3. John Thomas (1872 - 1909) married my great grandmother Mary Veronica Dougherty (1872 - 1969) 4. Catherine (1876 - 1886) died at 10 yrs of age from acute hepatitis 5. Charles Paul (1878 - 1919) died of TB at age of 40 6. Rose D (1801-1907) died at 25 of gangrenous empyema likely due to TB) 7. James (1882 - 1905) died at 22. 8. Hugh ( 1886 - 24 Dec 1905) died at 18 of fatal injury while trespassing on PA Railway 9. Mary (1890 - 1910?) John Thomas Forsythe (1872 -1909) who also was a Philadelphia Fireman died of typhoid fever. He became very ill after fighting a fire in sub-zero weather in January 1909 and died the next month. Because it did not occur on the job, his wife was denied his pension and the only job she could get was to clean the firehouse. John and Mary had 10 children together, and 5 died as babies.
