I'd like to say I agree with you Jay. It really isn't lack of interest. I am new to the Ford list and find I have very little information to offer. It seems a lot of what I have been told are from the 1600-1800's and that is very limited. I would love to learn more about them no matter where they live. Thomas and Esther Foord had a son William b between 1640 and 1680. He had 4 children: William, John, Esther and Thomas who died in Middlesex, New Jersey, US abt 1787. That Thomas and his wife Ann had 3 children that I know of: Martha, Stephen and Margaret. Martha is my line. She was born in NY and probably died in or near Burlington Co., New Jersey. She married a Richard Appleton who died there in 1799. She may have remarried? Or she may have died before he did? I really would love to know more about them. Seems like the spelled their name Foord also. I also have two other "Ford" people that I can't connect to any parents: Bathsheba who married a Sherman 91700's) and a Michael Ford who marred a Hatch in the late 1600- or early 1700's. They were all in the US also. I would appreciate any help. -----Original Message----- From: jvford5 [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, January 15, 2006 11:27 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Ford] Re: Ford family Middlesex UK Hello Jay, Barbara and Others Outside the USA, Please understand that it's not because of lack of interest but lack of information. I've traced my Ford ancestors back to Thomas Ford/Elizabeth Dye (m.1794) when they were living in Charlotte VA. I have hunches that take me back 2 more generations but haven't any clue as to where they originally came from. I would love to tie in family histories with someone from abroad !! More than happy to share !! Sincerely, Vicki Ford in Virginia (USA) ----- Original Message ----- From: J.D. The atitude/lack of interest, seems to be that no Ford's existed before the Mayflower landed at Plymouth, or emigrated since then.. I am sure that there is some information about landings etc, but a distinct reluctence to share. My grandmother, Mary Anne Ford, was born in 1889 and was the daughter of Edward Ford, a French Polisher and Hannah (?), and I wondered if she was of your line. Forgive me for asking, but I, too, joined the Ford family request line, but all they seem to come back with are American Fords. As I have been looking for for info about Mary Ann (aka Polly), I hoped you dont mind my asking. > >Regards, > >Barbara > > >==== FORD Mailing List ==== >http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/FORD >Contact me if there is any trouble with this site [email protected] >Teddy > >============================== >Search the US Census Collection. Hi there FORDS all over the world, I don't think there is any bias on the message board towards the USA but apparently more a lack of genealogical interest from the UK, or perhaps the sources in the UK are so good that the use of the message board is not so necessary, but it is disappointing not seeing many enquiries from our shores. My 'brick wall' lays with my grandparents, George Ford born Bristol c1863 and Elizabeth Clayton born Worcester c1870. but having posted enquiries on the Ford message board and the Worcester board neither raised a reply, but I keep subscribing in the hope that something will appear. I must say that some fascinating info appears from the States, even though I probably have no links.
