    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ford/Bradley/Radley/Conley/McNair Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/REX.2ACIB/3842 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on the family of Charles Ford from South Bristol, Ontario County of New York. In the 1880 South Bristol Federal Census on page 22 it lists Ford, Charles 23 Belle 20 Edith M 8/12 In the same household these people are living. McNair, Ella 24 Pearl 1 I do not know if Pearl is a male or female child. Belle went on to marry a Conley relative, Oliver Conley, in 1890. I think Belle's maiden name is either Bradley or Radley depending which marriage record for the children you look at as I have both names. As far as I know Charles and Belle had a child, Bert J. Ford, who was born on August 6, 1884. Bert J. Ford died on June 14, 1947. In his obituary he is listed as Bert J. Ford Conley. This is the same in the 1900 Federal Census for the Town of Jerusalem of Yates County he is listed living in the Charles Cook household as a servant as Bert Conley. This Cook household is listed one family above the Oliver and Belle Conley family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    3. Where in California was James Monroe Ford born? My husbands grandfather, Stephen Speedy Ford, was born in Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky (1824). He married my husband's grandmother in Yreka, Ca. in 1879. He was twenty five years older than Pluma Augusta Cornish when they married. We discovered Stephen Ford must have been married before as there is a plot listing a Mrs. Ford on the right side of Stephens gravesite( no marker or first name however). Pluma Ford's gravesite is on the left side of Stephen's grave. Stephen Ford was a Mexican War veteran and received a pension from the government and when he died, Pluma Ford received his pension. This has been a mystery to us since the beginning of our research on my husbands family. Prior to marrying my husbands grandmother, Stephen Ford had property in Lassen County, Ca. in Grasshopper Valley. It is near Susanville, Ca. He was very active in political affairs. He was a great horseman, breeding and raising some of the best racers in that part of the country. I would certainly like to make some connection and learn more about his first family. If you think there could be any connection, please contact me by e-mail. In researching Kentucky records, I have never been able to find any info on who his parents were. His middle name of Speedy is a family name. Hope to hear from you. The Ford family is white. [email protected] wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 1. Obtaining Personnel Records
    2. Vicki Ford
    3. The following information on obtaining public records could contain a wealth of information for your family roots. The lady who shared it with me had a grandfather who worked on the Panama Canal in the early 1900's. Her request for information took some time as it had to be redirected to other agencies but the final outcome was worth it. Here's what she told me she received.... My grandfather's file contained his original application to the Isthmian Canal Commission, in his own hand; letters of recommendation, a complete record of his employment up to the time of his application to the Commission, and a lot of other copies of documents relevant to his employment. He worked in Panama less than one year (returning upon the birth of my father), but still his file contained a great deal of correspondence. Hope this helps !!! National Personnel Records Center, St. Louis Civilian Personnel Records Services for the Public Official Personnel Folders (OPFs) The NPRC, CPR stores official personnel folders (OPFs) of former civilian employees from most Federal agencies world-wide. The records date from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. OPFs are retired to the center within 120 days after separation from Federal employment. To request information from an OPF, follow the steps below. STEP 1 - Provide written authorization. a.. If you are the subject of the file, send a signed letter indicating that you are requesting information from your own file. b.. If you are not the subject of the file and the subject is living, send a letter signed by the subject indicating that he/she authorizes the NPRC, CPR to release information to you. c.. If the subject of the file is deceased send proof of the subject's death. Proof of death is not required if the subject of record was born more than 100 years ago. STEP 2 - Provide information needed so that the NPRC, CPR can identify the file. Lack of following information may result in our inability to identify a record. a.. Full name used during Federal employment b.. Date of birth c.. Social Security number, if applicable d.. Name of employing Federal agency e.. Beginning date of Federal service f.. Ending date of Federal service STEP 3 - Identify the documents or information needed and explain the purpose of your request.
