    3. I have a question about one item in your posting: "Zadock b. ca 1779; m.in 1788, Casander Chew who was named as a minor in her father's will in 1789. He was John Drury Chew, a soldier; unknown mother. " Are you sure of the dates? He couldn't have been born in 1779 and married in 1788 -- he would have been just nine years old. Please advise. > [Original Message] > From: <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Date: 4/2/2006 9:14:51 PM > Subject: Re: [Ford] Zadock Ford's > > I have a Zadock Ford of Lauren District, Lauren Co., SC., born ca 1752 in MD. > or VA.; died 9 Apr 1801, Spartanburg Co., SC., son of James Ford and ___? > Zadock married ca. 1772, Cassandra Trail born ca. 1772 in ME.; d. 31 Oct. > 1831, Spartenburg Co., SC. Jun 1868, Fort Smith, Sebastian, AR, d. 6 Nov 1911, Spiro, Le Flore Hi Larry, I've been offline for well over a week now babysitting little Ash, age 2 (just barely), and when I was able to get back online Sat., I had difficulties getting into my software or Microsoft so DELL Systems spent about 4 hrs. helping me restore, however I lost anywhere from 20 to 100 emails so you might have sent me one before the above post from you?....anyway, I'm at a loss as to the above but I'm assuming you've made a NEW contact on our FORD line?.....I do hope so and if so, who do they descend from? If its Andrew J. Ford Sr. then I'm really excited because thats my direct line. Hoping your springtime in Tx. is just as beautiful as ours is beginning to be! I hear from Tami and she's talking about us all getting together. Do you know anything about the specifics of this?....I would like to visit w/her Aunt Pearl and know more about William Ford and Louis Lee Ford if possible....maybe one of us can "nudge something new" out of her...wouldn't that be just great? Tami's side knew about RUFE being shot but not the specifics....I would like to find out whether they caught the murderer and the reason he killed Rufe. Was it a case of mistaken identity like the newspaper articles stated?.....It seems Our Fords have had lots of killings, murders etc. but maybe not anymore than was happening to other families who ventured ever westwards...this was outlaw land for sure back then. I heard from Bob Bartley-Ford (ha, he stated he needed hypenated name after matching up with Earl so closely) ....he's going to locate the approximate location of James G. Ford's land for me so I can go and walk it next trip up to Benton and Washington County...isn't this cool?...I hope its not where development is now but still a countryside or farm (and the way its developing in NW AR. so rapidly, this is becoming more difficult to find each day).... Talk to you later and have a good Sunday! Glynda

    3. Mary, There was a Dillon Ford and family in Pike County in the 1850 census. This is my family, originated in Kentucky. Dillon was married to Mary Ann Pace Craddock. I have been researching this line. In fact, I just visited Stoddard County to do some research earlier this week. I saw some wonderful information pertaining to this line you mentioned. I am unable to tie it to my line, however, I do believe they are related. 2. My Fords are all from Palmyra. They came from Pittsfield, MA in the early 1800. The family story is that they came from Scotland about 1790 and landed in Providence, RI and than moved to Pittsfield. Mary than came to NY when her husband Richard died. The family consisted of Richard, his wife Mary and two of Richard's brothers one of them was a Charles. There is a Ford reunion held every year in the area. Sincerely, Earl Ford Spencer
