Found at Copiah County in 1860 Mississippi federal census as "Dentist, age 33, born Maryland" with spouse, English via Canada immigrant Esther MARKHAM, and infant sons, Peter and Thomas Claxton TAYLOR. Served in War Between the States as 1/LT with Company H, 1st Louisiana Cavalry; captured 29 July 1863 at Winchester County, Kentucky; paroled 12 June 1865 at Fort Delaware, Delaware. Removed with family to Houston, Harris County, Texas where he died in 1883 (census record). Was his mother or either grandmother a Forbes? Were his ancestors in Scotland?
