    3. Dear Kay, I am going to have to do some searching but I feel I might be able to help you. What I do know is that Sir John "the Black Lip" FORBES' third son was John, the first of the houss of Tolquhon. Also, William FORBES, Laird of Thornton acquired the Thornton lands through his marriage to Elizabeth STRACHEN, whose father Alexander STRACHEN was the Laird of Thornton. BTW, William was born ca 1542 at Corse and died 1 Apr 1614. We'll probably find that Thomas was the grandson of William. I'll let you know when I find the rest of this puzzle. Regards, John >Welcome John. >My Forbes was THOMAS FORBES Laird of Thornton Castle near Montrose Scotland. >Born about mid 1600's I think. >He married ELIZABETH LYON of Glamis castle. >Thomas's father was >JOHN FORBES who married Lady ELIZABETH STANHOPE >does anyone know the forbears of these FORBES? >I have been told that my Forbes were of Tolquhon Castle near Aberdeen.
