The only Alexander Forbes that I know of is my great-grandfather, but he was born in 1838. He also came from Scotland, but I have no idea where in Scotland or where he went. My grandfather is Arthur Alexander Forbes, born 1872 and died in 1960. Don't know if that helps or not.
