I just wanted to tell you that you have said in words what I have thought ever since I started researching my family hstory. I have been totally confused by the lack of shareing of genealogical information by many people who actually have the audacity to state that they have knowledge but will keep it secret. My theory is that such individuals suffer from feelings of inferiority and their secretivness gives them a sense of power. I believe they enjoy their smugg rightessness however misplaced that may be and so , their time is not worth my time....or yours! I have been trying for almost ten years to validate or at least find some kind of information leading me to find the parents of my ggggrandfather; Seth Brush Downs, born , I believe in North Castle, Westchester County, N.Y. in 1816. He married in Greenwich, Ct. in 1835 to Amy Scofield. Seth died in Greenwich. My theory is that his parents were Silas Smth Downs of North Castle and Lucy Ann Brush of Stanwich, Ct. Although this contradicts his deathcertificate which gives hs parents ( in almost illegible scrawl ) as Wm. and Amy, I have never found anything anywhere to back that up and feel that whoever filled out that death certificate asked someone presen
