Thanks, Roger, for the info on James Forbes' son John Forbes. It appears that this John Forbes is not the same as my 4-gr-grandfather John Forbes, Deputy Surveyor-General of the Colony of NC, who is believed to have married Ann Stafford (1712-1793) and produced my 3-gr-grandfather Arthur Forbes (~1745-1823), Rev. War Patriot, among several other sons. After the death of her first husband John Forbes ~1750, Ann Stafford Forbes would later marry John Shannon and then outlive him as well; she lived her final days w/ her son Arthur. I am stuck on my lineage with presumed 4-gr-grandfather John Forbes, who appears by all evidence to be different than your John Forbes son of James Forbes, although it appears that they were both living in eastern NC during the same time in the early 1700's. If this John Forbes rings a bell with anyone who can provide further info, please respond.
