I am descended from the Garland family. My 3ggrandmother was Elvina Garland. Her father was Ezekiel Garland and his father- Gutridge Garland, b. 1753 in Halifax Co. NC, d. 1848 in Carter Co. TN. Gutridge Garland married Bridget Hampton, the niece of Col. Andrew Hampton. My entire line on my fathers side is from the Carter, Johnson, Unicoi counties in TN.
