FORBES Deacon Charles Treat Forbes, 84 years of age, died at his home No. 83 High street, late Thursday evening. Mr. Forbes was born and spent his boyhood days in a house on the north west corner of Naubuc avenue and High street, where Fred Clark's house now stands. He was a son of Orin Forbes and grandson of Capt. Moses Forbes, prominent in the Revolutionary war. Three years ago Mr. Forbes fel and broke his hip, since which time he had been comparatively helpless and a great sufferer. He has been cared for by Mrs. Leonard Barker assisted by nurses, Mr. Barker having taken charge of his farm for several years. His father, Orin Forbes was twice married, his first wife was Ruth Risley Forbes, daughter of John Risley of East Hartford. To them was born one son, Horace, who died Nov. 5, 1860 in Northfield, Canada. Mr. Forbes for his second wife married Mary Treat Forbes, daughter of Salmon Treat, also of East Hartford and Charles T. was the youngest and last survivor of six children, three sons and three daughters. On January 11, 1871, he married Miss Louise Forbes, daughter of Leonard Forbes, formerly of Burnside and on February 3, 1873, a son, Louis Charles, was born to them. Mrs Forbes died in Feb. 27 of the same year and on the 29th of the following September the little one followed. Mr. Forbes loved his Bible from youth; he was a keen student of the wood and a decided christian character. He was a member of the South Congregational Church and served as deacon for a number of years, failing health causing him to resign and he was made deacon emeritus. Mr. Forbes is survived by one nephew, Frederick R. Curtis, town clerk of Glastonbury, and three nieces Mrs. Celia Curtis Brewer of Meriden; Mrs. Ruth Forbes McKeney and Mrs. Anna D. Forbes of Canada. The funeral was held from his late home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. H. W. Tillinghast pastor of the church assisted by Rev. J. M. Potter, pastor of the Methodist Church. The bearers were Charles W. Porter, Frank Porter, Harry Anderson and Robert Fox. The burial was in Hockanum cemetery.
