Dear Listers: My FORBES family originated in Strathdon, Aberdeen. I have traced them to the late 1700's. Later they moved to Logie-Coldstone where they had property in that area. John FORBES b 20 Feb 1775 Bluefold Strathdon married 1803 Mains of Newe, Strathdon to Elspet WALKER b & b/p unknown. Elspet d. 12 NOV 1859 Upper Ruthvan, Logie-Coldstone. John FORBES' parents were John Forbes residing @ Bluefold, Strathdon 1773 married Mary FORBES date unknown. I am trying to trace the parents of John & Mary FORBES. He was the second son of Edward Willes FORBES and his wife Clara (née HORE). Their other children were Thomas John (1887), Jessie Gertrude (1896), and George Albert Edward (1898). Teddie married sometime between 1907 and 1922, possibly to a woman called Grace MURRAY. The newspaper report of his father's funeral (1922) included a reference to Mr & Mrs Murray-Forbes. It is thought that they had a son and a daughter. Teddie was still alive in 1937, but his family lost touch with him during WWII. Any information about his family's whereabouts would be very gratefully received.

My Forbes family is from Michigan. I have records showing that my great grandfather was in fact the son of a Peter Forbes of Franklin Co, VA. I can find no proof of who his parents were. He was the only silver smith in Franklin Co in the 1850's. He married Emeline Hiatt and they had at least four children.There is a marriage record for them. Census records show a daughter Julia, and three sons. William, Wiley Tazewell and George Washington.

Lola I have found a will in the genealogylibrary.com database written by Jane Perce dated January 3, 1792 and proved October 21, 1796.. She leaves her possessions to FORBES children. Her nephews who are named in the will are William G. Forbes and Abraham G. Forbes who were silversmiths in NYC. They were also appointed as executors along with Mary Forbes. Neice's names Catherine Forbes Wolfe, Jemima Forbes Wynans, Jemima Forbes Graham, Mary Forbes, Margaret Forbes, Philander Bogert, and Ann Erwin. Can anybody out there shed some light on who Jane Perce is?

I am trying to find info on Abraham Forbes and Mary Waldron. Don't know where they were born or when. Only that they had at least two sons. 1. Theodore Forbes b. Apr 1850 in NY, d. 25 Oct 1910 in Mt. Vernon, NY. Married Ella (Ellen) J. Moody 27 Apr 1885. She was b. 10 Jul 1859 d. 9 Apr 1929 in Mt. Vernon, NY. 2. John W. Forbes b. Mar 1858 in NY. I got the info on the parents names of these two boys from a small obit on Theodore. Thanks for any help. Lola in Iowa

My gg-grandfather was Chrales Forbes Jr. b. ca 1805 in Wayne Co., NY. He had five children that I know of. Lorenzo D. b. 1829, my gg-grandfather. Moved to Chesterton, Porter Co., Indiana via Michigan. Alexander, b, 1832. May have gone back to Scotland. Charles. b. 1836 William, b. 1839 Mary, b. 1841 I have a vague recollection of one of these Forbes moving to the Detroit area but cannot find any notes about it.
