Family tradition states her parents were Alexander Forbes and Elizabeth McCullough, both of Nova Scotia. U. S. Census records show both of Mary Eleanor's parents were born in Nova Scotia, but I cannot verify names or the actual location in Nova Scotia.

I see that Adam married May or Mary Rae or Rhae in Fetterresso and the proclamation was in Dunnottar so they probably lived in Stonehaven or thereabouts. THOMAS FORBES, shipmaster, born 1855, Aberdeen, married MARY ANN MILNE at Aberdeen in 1890. They had a son DOUGLAS FORBES, born Aberdeen 1890. Thomas Forbes died in 1894. I would like to hear from anyone researching this family. James Forbes died in 1883. Irene Looking for FORBES in Aberdeenshire is like looking for a needle in a haystack!! I am still searching for Margaret Forbes who married a McDonald and had a daughter Ann in 1812 at Ballater. There is no trace of her anywhere! I just keep hoping that someone will find her as a sibling to their ancestor. James B. Forbes, b. 2/15/1824, found on Hart Co. Ky. 1850 census with wife Malvina and 2 sons, William T. (my ancestor) and James H.
