    1. [FORBES] John Jacob Forbes of Pompey, Onondaga Co., New York
    2. Ken Spangler
    3. Hi all, I am looking for someone who might have any info on my ggg grandfather, John Jacob Forbes. I have found his burial place in Pease Cemetery, Pompey, New York and I found the baptismal records of him and his wife, Lydia (Sheridan) at the First Baptist Church in Pompey. This covers a 10 year period between 1834 and 1844. Is there anyone who might know of this line and be able to help me get back a little further? Or perhaps, someone who could help expand my knowledge of John Jacob? Any help would be appreciated. By the way, John Jacob Forbes was born on 7-23-1797 and died on 9-23-1844. I believe his father was Jacob John Forbes, but I have found nothing of substance to back that up. Once again, thanks for any help, Ken Spangler forbesgen@ev1.net

    1. Re: [FORBES] Re: Frank Forbes of Seaside, OR m. Ethel Ivy Watson [née Becher]...
    2. I did not sent the quesry, but I live in Oregon, which is on the west coast of the United States. The state of Washington is directly above and borders British Columbia, Canada on the north, and Oregon on the south. California borders the state of Oregon on the south. The town of Seaside is along the northern coast of Oregon and a popular summer and year round resort town as it is only about and hour and a half drive from the major city of Portland, Oregon. I hope this helps. That is a good point when writing to international lists. I always put my state on even lists within the United States

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: FORBES, BECHER, WATSON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EEX.2ACIB/788.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Jeanette, If you take a look at the Fobes, or any other, message listings you will often see message titles with two letter acronyms in them. Without exception these relate to the two letter abbreviations given to each of the U.S. states. So in my case, OR means Oregon and WA means Washington state. Thus the country they refer to is obvious. As for the FORBES line I'm seeking information about, I'm just hoping that someone might be connected to or have knowledge of the Frank Forbes the second husband my ancestor Ethel Ivy, née Becher [whose first husband was William Henry Watson]. Frank married her in 1926 in Spokane, WA [ie Washington state]. >From 1948 they lived at 135 Sixth Avenue, Seaside, Clatsop County, OR [ie Oregon]. He died sometime before her death on August 2, 1961. There was at least one child from her first marriage and I have some details about her. I'm sorry I have no other Forbes info at all. Does this Forbes ring a bell with you ? Alistair
