RootsWeb accepts only plain text mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail reader, or don't use any attachments. See http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/listadmins/plaintext.html for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help. We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. -- The RootsWeb staff --part1_7c.31469566.2b07143f_boundary--

I am searching for my husbands family, all the information we have is that his grandfather, Hector Forbes owned the Karrara Hotel near Bundaberg, which may have been owned by his father before him. Hector's wife was killed in a gas explosion/fire in the kitchen of the old hotel. Any information on the family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rae

    2. Darrell A. Martin
    3. Greetings from your list admin: Tomorrow, Monday November 11, 2002 is Veterans Day in the Unites States of America. It used to be called Armistice Day to celebrate the end of the Great War, now known as World War One. Veterans Day is specifically for living military veterans, not a general day for honoring anybody and everybody. Please keep in mind that for many of us, a few pieces of colored ribbon -- and this day -- are all we get to call our own. I would like to invite all subscribers to contribute "something" to the list about a member of the family who served his or her country in the military. If you have family members who would go unmentioned otherwise, please feel free to bend the "on topic" rules and go ahead. And SEND THAT FAMILY MEMBER A COPY. Also feel free to mention those whose service was to a country other than the USA. Honor knows no political boundaries. 3. I'm sorry !! This is all I have on Fannie Forbes b. ? bp. Ireland d. ? . Fannie married a Charles Ewing b. abt. 1831 bp. Ireland. I know Charles Ewing came over in 1865 with a child named John Ewing b. 1855 (my line). I have not found these 2 on a passenager list yet. In 1870 I find Charles Ewing working on a farm in Orange County, NY. I never find Fannie with family. I think she stayed behind in 1865 because someone found a birth of a child on LDS William Ewing b. 1865 in Ireland . My mother said the Collins family (William) in Orange County, NY(Newburgh)are family I have called them and they dont know too much. But, in 1880 Census Wm Collins has a sister in law named Rhoda Ewing bp. Ire. but, in 1900 Rhoda is not with them. So, that makes Wm. Collins wife Maggie a Ewing too. But, in 1900 Census in Newburgh it states Maggie came over in 1870. Maybe this is when Fannie came over. What is Fannie Forbes related to you ? Is Forbes her married name or married name ? We were never told John Ewing had siblings but, I think because they died they just didnt talk about them. I did find the death of Charles Ewing d . 1903 Orange County (Salibury Mills) but, no parents were listed and no cemetery listed so I dont know where he is buried yet. And cant find a obit either. I cant think in what I wrote. LOL I'm copying all the Ewing in the area to see what I can find. 3. Hi All Let me add to the confusion over various Fannie Forbes'. I am looking for two more of them. 1. Frances (Fanny) FORBES, born Aghaward townland, co. Longford, Ireland. Baptised Nov 11, 1832 at St. John's Church of Ireland church, Ballinalee, Clonbroney parish, co. Longford, Ireland. Daughter of Charles Forbes and Jane Heany. No further record of her in Ireland. Probably married/emigrated. 2. Frances (Fanny) FORBES, born Oct 12, 1863 at Aghaward townland, co. Longford, Ireland. Baptised Feb 7, 1864 at St. John's Church of Ireland church, Ballinalee, Clonbroney parish, co. Longford, Ireland. Daughter of Charles Forbes (son of Charles Forbes above) and Mary Scott. Attended Currycahill school, Ballinalee until age 16. According to family stories, she and her elder sister Maria FORBES emigrated to America in the 1890's, seeking their fortunes/husbands. Can anyone help ? Sheila Forbes Ancaster, Canada

His father, George Forbes, was born in Scotland. I have a lot of information on that branch of the family. We obviously are not related. A side note: Fannie Trunble's aunt, was one of triplets and was also named Fannie. Lynne
