Dear Kili and Linda So nice to know this isn't a list of one after all. My Forbes family was born in Auchtermuchty, Fife Scotland in the 1790's and early 1800's. Alexander FORBES emmigrated to Baltimore, Maryland, USA in 1828 with his wife and family. My 2xgreat grandma , Jean Forbes married Thomas Taylor that same year and moved to Ontario Canada. Alexander still shows up on the Maryland census in the 1860's. The family was still corresponding in the 1870's. Helen in Ontario Canada

Well, I'm hoping this list is finally getting a start. I'd like to hear from anyone who might have information on parents of Andrew FORBES who was born maybe in PA - year unknown. In 1831 he was married to Nancy Ann ALEXANDER AGER (don't know which is her birth surname) - married maybe in PA as first son, William Wallace FORBES was born 15 July 1832 in PA. By 1835 The family was in Monroe County, MO and Andrew Forbes died there 24 Sept 1835. Another son was born 1834, Thomas Andrew Forbes, but don't know where he was born. After Andrew's death, Nancy married Robert K. Crawford of nearby Ralls Co. MO. Have lots of info on this marriage but really, really need to know something about Andrew's parents, where he was born, where he and Nancy were married, etc. Does anyone on this list have info on FORBES in PA?? Hi Bruce - I'm fairly new to the list as well. Your reference to ggparents born in N. Carolina prompted this response. I've got Forbes ancestry going back to early 1700's in eastern N. Carolina and am chasing rumors of my earliest American ancestors coming down from Isle of Wight County VA to N. Carolina in 1600's as part of a King Charles land grant. That part is still rumor, but the trace back to Pitt County and Beaufort County NC in early 1700's looks pretty strong. Perhaps I can help w/ your N.
